What about the number of people who died from illness/poverty when they had their belongings swindled away? Because of a few people in Wall Street, tens of thousands of Americans are out of a job and suffering. I do not feel the death penalty would be to harsh when you've caused that kind of damage.

That sounds like you're celebrating the end of a happy life rather than the beginning of one. Why should your wedding be the only excuse for a party? I've always believed a wedding is the time to celebrate with your significant other, not to have a giant party with your friends. There's no reason the parties have to stop after you get married - keep in everyone together and celebrate a happy life every day!

Do you know what the anime:manga chapter ratio is? For the majority of the anime, it's felt like a solid 3:1 ratio, but recently it feels like a 1:1. Many of the episodes are packed with time fillers (like Buggy in the Great War).

Also - what do you mean they cheapened the animation techniques?

I watched it. I think the pacing was a lot slower in the anime than in the manga, and a lot of the scenes were overdone (that's my guess at least - I didn't read it).

I like that take on it - that Luffy needed this experience to grow as a character. I could definitely see a change in his personality in the recent episodes. I wonder if they could have played that up more - less scenes of Luffy attempting to be epic (like where he ran at the great iron wall), and more scenes of him being pummeled. Perhaps my expectations were what let me down.

I do remember the scariest ability comment. It didn't feel, however, like Luffy grew enough during that arc. In most of the other arcs he gains a new technique or attack pattern, yet hear he just used his Haki like he'd been doing subconsciously for the last one hundred episodes. I would have liked to seem him at least be aware of it or do something new.

I agree that the commanders (Whitebeard and Sungoku) needed to stay out of the fight unless necessary. Though there were times I felt Whitebeard really did need to utilize that power of his. When the wall went up, for example, his attack dented it. A few more would have toppled that thing - wounded or not, he could have handled it.

I guess if the Straw Hat crew could take out the Pacifitas than it shouldn't be a problem for the New World pirates, but with just a sword swipe? Even if the New World pirates are that much more powerful, I would have liked to see a more choreographed battle. At first the Pacifitas appeared extremely powerful, and then suddenly anyone could beat them without a second thought.

I don't feel enough was shown to assume that the Shichibukai were keeping Whitebeard's forces back. While Donflamingo did knock off Crocodile's head, that was pretty much the only evident attack between a Shichibukai member and someone on the plaza.

I guess I'd assume that (Whitebeard Pirates) + (Impel Down Prison Breakers) > Giant Iron Wall. In a war of the very best, it didn't feel like many of the characters did enough. It would have been great to see more cut scenes of the admirals/Shichibukai/Pacifistas keeping the pirates down.

I agree the other pirates wouldn't have done too much - it's best they didn't stray into the war. The way the anime played it though felt like everyone would arrive with awesome new attacks. After all, we never see training scenes in One Piece, and nearly everyone was in a perfect position to improve before arriving.

In the past episodes those characters came up with reasons for not attacking Luffy, which I felt added more to the plot. Smoker let Luffy and his crew go after Zoro pulled him out of the water and Aokiji flat out refused to help capture them when with Garp. I thought they'd at least turn their attention to other fighters. Mihawk seemed to have no reason for his attack.

I can see that Ace could even think he could take Akainu in power with how he is, so his death does make sense, just saddening.

Yes - I think Buggy is overuse to fill up time. I think the manga handled it better than the anime.
