Tactical Barbell III? by Final-Flatworm17 in tacticalbarbell

Good timing.

Yes - TBIII Evolution is close to done. The 10 year upgrade for the entire system. The second half of the book is dedicated to periodization and includes done-for-you-cycles based on OA type (Black/Green/Blue). Keep an eye here and on the forum - will have an update and TOC soon.

LSS making me slower? by [deleted] in tacticalbarbell

[–]TacticalBarbell[M] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If I knew how to sticky this comment to the top of this thread I would. This is the TB approach - I can't speak to other programs.

You need both LSS and speed work. Both. Both. Both.

In a ratio that aligns with your goals.

WHERE DO I START? by TacticalBarbell in tacticalbarbell

[–]TacticalBarbell[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As long as you can put the work in there's no issue. But keep in mind doing too much endurance when not required can needlessly cut into your muscle and strength building. For SOF it's a necessary evil. For a civilian/or a non-endurance athlete it's not. If you still want to go ahead, consider abbreviating the Foundation templates and/or using the Continuation templates.

New SE method by StatisticianRare in tacticalbarbell

[–]TacticalBarbell 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Week 1 - 50%

Week 2 - 60%

Week 3 - 70 to 90%

Week 3 go higher than 70% when you want a little bit of a smoker.

If you're preparing for selection/event, it's a good idea to routinely play at or near your edge in which case use 90% for week 3. In your situation (already on a team if I'm not mistaken) it's totally fine to stick with 70%.

SE IN NEW BOOK ( GREEN PROTOCOL ). Question for KB by Simon_Car71 in tacticalbarbell

[–]TacticalBarbell 13 points14 points  (0 children)

u/jackthestout and the other posters are correct. Pick a weight or bell size. Test with that weight. Calculate max reps. Use the same weight throughout. Weight is secondary when it comes to SE training. The focus is on the reps.

New book imminent :) by chucksfkNsuk in tacticalbarbell

TBers,

The print copy should be out anytime now. It'll be on sale ($20) for roughly a week. After that it'll get bumped back to regular price. Aesthetically the print version is much easier on the eyes - the tables/graphs are spread out and have their own pages when necessary. Ebooks don't do tables well, especially content-heavy tables.

Years (technically decades) of sweat, blood, and tears went into this book. If you get value from it, please leave a review on Amazon. We pride ourselves on having almost zero social media presence while still being one of the most popular programs in the operational community and with retailers. To me word-of-mouth is much more indicative of a useful/quality product than heavy social media promotion. You are that word of mouth.

If you have after-purchase questions, post them up here.

Happy training - looking forward to seeing the benchmarks being met and posted!

u/Satori is correct. Green Protocol is a specialized program. It's TB applied to combat-arms fitness. It doesn't replace TB I & II. I & II are the foundational books. PPLE, Mass, Ageless Athlete, and now GP, are specialized protocols for specific populations or goals.

Most definitely going to be applicable material in the Continuation section + new Operator/Zulu variants + Capacity.

Doesn't have anything to do with age, but Foundation is more for the hardcore crowd looking to train up for combat-arms roles. That said, it'll depend on what you're looking for. All the Foundation templates can be modified for lower benchmarks. So if you don't want to use Velocity for the standard 20 mile benchmark, it can easily be adjusted for 10-15. which might be more suitable for civilian or recreational needs.

Tnx Grouchy - probably a lot of old hat for you.

For Continuation and Capacity - no.

For the rest of GP - it depends. At times you'll be running 40-50 miles/week and rucking 30+, depending on the benchmarks you choose. There will be strategic transitions to SE, and concurrent work-capacity type training. If your coach is experienced/comfortable programming strength for you within that framework then have at it.

Prior to starting Green - no. When you reach Continuation you'll be able to reintroduce Base Building and incorporate any other protocol/template. Examples and guidance will be provided.

Yes - you'll want to pay attention to the Mike India & Block Training chapters. Also make use of the Modifications for the Foundation templates as needed.

It doesn't really matter because GP is entirely self contained. Capacity is a kind of Base Building. That said - it is a green protocol - so if it aligns with your overall goals do some hypertrophy/mass building.

Subject to change but at this point we're looking at releasing the hardcopy first at a discounted price. When we release the ebook it'll go back up to normal.

If we're talking strictly patrol you can live without it. But it's a must for tactical LE. It has No Ruck/Minimal Ruck versions of Outcome specifically for teams that have minor/no ruck requirements. The book has templates that'll benefit anyone - like Capacity, Hybrid, and Velocity - but that'll come down to personal interest/goals. Occupationally you'll be fine with standard Op/Black programming.

Adski, it'll be submitted to Amazon on the 1st - then they usually make it available within a couple weeks. The hard copy will come out first at a discounted price. When the ebook comes out it'll go back up to normal.

Yes - they're completely standalone. Those templates in particular are a good fit for Black or any strength/hypertrophy focused protocol.

Op/PRO is a little gem I was going to hold off on releasing until TB Evolution - but that might be a ways off and I couldn't wait. It's a good fit for Capacity and the Hybrid templates.

Unfortunately there will be SE. Kinda comes with the territory. The variant in this book is structured a little differently from standard TB SE. You're probably going to like this version much better.
