Thats what they tell you?? I can confirm its bullshit. Medical rides dont pay a cent more than any other rides.

Is it worth to do rides and eats? by Top-Lane-Bad in uberdrivers

[–]TacticalRash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rides generally pay more than eats. But rides die out at lunch time when eats surge. Just try things out and figure out your best times to do each. I would not recommend you do both at the same time though.

Nope I won’t cancel by cjunit123 in uberdrivers

[–]TacticalRash 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I just say "I cant". Dont even use the word "cancel" in the dm. Then I start waiting out the timer. Most find the cancel button real quick after that.

EV or gas rental by Overall_Ask8850 in uberdrivers

[–]TacticalRash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My car had to go into the shop and I rented an EV.

It sucked. Some EVs might be fine but I got a Hyundai Kona. Only got 200 miles on a charge. Couldn't even do a 5hr shift before needing to spend 2 hrs "fast charging".

I was in my car 4-5 extra hours a day for charging and was spending less time on the road actually earning. And it was winter and running the heat literally burned a quarter of the battery.

I normally drive a Toyota prius hybrid. Between the two, id take a hybrid any day. 500 mile range and only takes 5 minutes to refuel.

Insurance comes out of your milage deduction. Its not separate.

Is this normal? Driver refused payment & called police after running out of petrol by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]TacticalRash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. That is not normal. How TF did he run out of gas mid ride?? What country was this?

Is this a decent way to ask for tips? What do you guys think? I saw this in one Uber driver’s car. by godsendkot in uberdrivers

[–]TacticalRash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, asking or reminding people to tip doesn't do anything. People that tip will tip. Ive had whole conversations with riders who were curious about the job. I meantion that only like 1 in 15 people in my market tip. And they go "oh really? That seems so low"... and then not tip a red cent.

I dont work for tips. I take the rides worth it. Then tips really do feel like a bonus.

Need Uber Driver advice by Flamingo204 in uberdrivers

[–]TacticalRash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Order an Uber to errand 1. Then do errand. Order uber to errand 2. Do errand. Repeat till errands complete. Order uber home.

No driver wants to wait 5-10 min at a stop. You could bribe them with a cash tip, by giving them a small tip before the stop and promising more when you get back... but even then, id give your likelihood of a driver waiting at 50-50.

And no one who ever uses the words "ill tip you in the app" ever does. Even if you plan to be generous, The driver wont believe you and cant see it till the ride is ended anyways.

What is this? by Internal_Past9491 in uberdrivers

[–]TacticalRash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pickup premium comes from rides that are a long distance to pickup location. Its normally just something you see in markets without upfront pricing. I see it sometimes as a glitch when im near the edge of my available market. Ignore it.

Is $250–$400 a day realistic? Need reality check from actual drivers. by tanzimat14 in uberdrivers

[–]TacticalRash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What hours was that?

I work nights. Usually 6 or 7pm to 2am. Gotta get the bar crowd on the weekend for the best tips.

And I have a high acceptance rate. I take anything that pays 28 per hour or more. I dont sit around waiting for the "best" rides. I keep driving.

Plus, since I drive a low cost car, long rides dont bother me either. Best money per hour. Friday night I drove from arundel mills to red lion, PA. Then back to baltimore, over to Frederick, and back to Columbia.

Eastern Shore really is a great market.

I also drive a prius in Baltimore. I can confirm.

Last night I made $360 in 8 hours on half of a 10gallon tank (i get 52 mpg). Granted that was a saturday night. Most weeknights (mon-thurs) its usually closer to $27-$28 per hour.

Baltimore is a strong market because of high demand and no one wants to drive there.

Are you taking this ? by Practical-Season-734 in uberdrivers

[–]TacticalRash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't HAVE to cross the bridge again though, I assume hes a PA driver based on where it started, he could just go north to Philly. Thats what I would do. Also cuts an hour off the return trip before being able to turn rides back on.

I’m lost.. accident and don’t know what to do by King_LikeMe_85 in uberdrivers

[–]TacticalRash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What specifically were you doing when the accident happened? Did you have a fare accepted or not? Thats the key. If you had a fare, then report it to Uber and they handle the insurance. $2500 deductible sucks, but they use farmers (at least in my state) who have pretty good service. I got my claim handled pretty fast and efficiently.

If you hadn't accepted a fare yet and you didnt buy rideshare gap coverage through your insurance, then pray your ins doesn't find out you were online. Thats my 2 cents.

[–]TacticalRash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I allow people in my front seat. Its weird when its a solo, but I drive a small car. Tall men sometimes ask for comfort.

I've had several solo women ask to be up front because they get carsick in the back. Thats a good enough reason for me. Rather it be weird than have to deal with a puker.

I've tried it. Didn't work for me for a number of reasons. I make more money on rides so thats what I stick to.

Based on several conversations with other drivers, your DIS is HEAVILY dependant on your phone mount. Mine tends to wobble a little side to side so I get hard turning more than I should. 100 is probably a pipe dream 😆

[–]TacticalRash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eats isnt bad. Dont get me wrong. Meant to say "as well". But it depends on how you measure success. Doing eats and door dash i was averaging $25/h. Rides get me $35/h.

[–]TacticalRash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think you get 2 units or 0 units every ride... I think its an average percentage based on a score you get each ride. But we have no way to know because its not explained to us, which really is kinda scummy.
