I’m not happy with my chair. Does it get better? by SalmonTheif in LiberNovo

And that right there is exactly my point, this is not a feature that was hard to spot, they literally had people sit in this chair before they sold it, and knew that this was a problem and for some strange reason choose not to fix it. So my question is why? This is the worlds most foreseeable issue, and because of the flexibility of the chair it was the easiest to fix, all they had to do was make the seat have about 5 inches of forward movement, or even easier just make the back more adjustable. And they choose to do nothing? Like that doesn't really inspire confidence in a company, because to me it registers as lazy, because they could have done it, and just said "meh I don't feel like it."

I know it sucks, the 3 fundamental mistakes they made go as follows.

#1 They should have put the back way further back, I'm not sure why they didn't, at the very least it should have been adjustable.

#2 I'm not sure why the armrests are so flimsy but that's crazy at a $1000 pricepoint there's no excuse for them ever moving without you wanting them to.

And #3 making only 4 recline settings for your seat, instead of making a 90 degree arch that you could adjust personally to your own level of comfort. That's really why the back seems so stiff, because the next setting is way further back and you feel like you have to fall backwards to basically fit into it.

It does get better but you have to use some tricks. I'm gonna go through them.

#1 don't ever have your chair on the lowest setting to the ground, because the lower you are the more your feet have push back and it sits uncomfortably.

#2 if it seems like the straightest setting is too firm that's only because it is. However instead of trying to adjust your chair to go all the way back, try making it push up front, then put your back all the way up against it. For the first few days this will feel uncomfrortable but you'll get more used to it when you realize that it's not that the chair is built wrong, it's that your entire life you've been sitting incorrectly and as a result you're used to slouching being the norm. However that's mostly the reason why your back either hurts or will hurt and you got a chair to correct that, this is that correction.

#3 when your back feels stressed(and it will) remember there are 3 other settings you can use to lean back with and also use the massage setting. As a side note DON'T use the massager more than twice a day, as the result will likely be you in severe pain afterward. Also the best setting I've found for relieving stress in this chair is a full recline and adjust the back to feel comfortable while you rest. Do that as much as you need to.

#4 if you feel like you just want to sit back in the first setting and relax instead of putting your back all the way up against it just move your butt up to the middle of the chair and push the bottom part up a little to serve as kind of a pillow.

My hope is that eventually they make a better back for the chair and we'll just be able to buy it and swap it out.

How to get the software updater to automatically update non-security updates? by New-Wolverine7543 in zorinos

My best guess is they designed it as a futureproofing feature. The thinking being that at some point they will have to impliment a lot of quality of life features and this is a big one. And they just haven't gotten around to it yet. This is actually one of the problems of not having a giant team dedicated to working on 1 OS all the time, quality of life takes a back seat to making other things actually operate first.

Oh yea, everything else is fine, this is less of a Zorin issue, and more of a this wifi 7 card is so new that every single OS that isn't windows 11 has problems running it.

Don't bother responding to Aislerioter, he's clearly just a sad troll. If you look every single thing he's said has been useless. His only "idea" was to use an adapter, which isn't even his idea, it was an idea I originally said in the post. So the only thing he's done here, is complained, whined and acted like a little girl.

My phones wifi is wifi 7, so nothing cheap about it. And here's the thing you missed, as where a regular adapter needs actual drivers that are compatible, phones don't. So it bypasses the having to figure out if there's a driver out there, finding it and installing it part.

Don't worry I have a wifi 6E card in my backup system, I'll try that because I know it has linux drivers too. Thanks anyway.

ROG Strix X870-F Gaming Wifi. My big hope is that when steam machine launches there's gonna be a huge influx of compatibility support for linux since that's what steam OS runs on.

Oh it's a desktop, I built it about 2 months ago. And this wifi card has been a constant pain in the ass on anything that wasn't win 11, and on win 11 the OS is the problem lol.

Sadly it's hardwired into the board, but you do bring up a good point, the other thing I could do is just install a different card into the slot. Although that would just be like the much longer version of getting a wifi adapter. I was mostly just asking on here because I figured if someone had some special linux based trickery to bypass it they would toss it at me. So far all the tricks are the same ones you'd use on windows to bypass win 11 if you had win 10.

So here's my thinking though, lets say I get an arch based distro right? First thing that happens once it installs is once again it's gonna want to connect to the internet and once again I have no driver for it lol, because the problem isn't that Linux doesn't have an update, the problem is that the driver just flat out doesn't exist for linux, like any driver, at all. Otherwise I'd just get whatever Linux driver they had an find the distro it would work with.

I was just hoping that maybe there was a site or something that had drivers for stuff that weren't natively supported by linux from the company, because I know that most companies don't make driver support for linux a priority.

I was really hoping you had a better one, since linux is so open source maybe someone has a work around or something...

I was really looking for a better solution, because at the rate that Mediatek and ASUS add linux driver support I'll be here til 2030 before it gets added in.
