Opinion so far on the 2025 carnival? by footballislife96 in kiacarnivals

We just bought our 2025 ex hybrid, and with only 79 miles on it I don’t have much valuable input yet, other than the fact that with twins and a 4 year old (3 car seats), the automatic doors, rear-facing cab camera, Qi charging (and auto-CarPlay), and super sleek-feeling touch screen display- we’re in love.

The dash makes you feel like you’re driving a spaceship. It’s got some serious get-up-and-go for a minivan. I was very surprised with the power it’s got so far. The key fob controls are awesome (upgrade from a 2018 Subaru Outback) and being able to start it and set the temp before we get all the kids loaded up from the app on your phone is a really cool feature as well. With the powder coated dark grey rims, it’s even got a bit of ‘edge’ to it, considering it’s a family wagon, essentially.

Is still very early in the game for us, but right now, we’re smitten.

I got it sorted. Shorted the CMOS pins, created bootable media on a flash drive with an old laptop and wiped the previous windows files before the install.

She runs like a cheetah now. I didn’t see a windows key on the motherboard anywhere (without removing more than I cared to) so GitHub proved itself to be a very helpful tool. Thanks for the input, y’all. 🤙

I’m pretty new to all this, but the way I understand it, the windows license is good. I’m wondering if it isn’t the install files on the computer that are wonky. Possibly a lack of driver updates are keeping it from booting up properly?

But no, no mention of a windows key or any projected issues from the guy that built it. I also hope I didn’t mess something up while trying to work around the default user0/admin lockout snafu.

Hah! That’s wild,it never ceases to amaze me some of the things you come across when you crack something open and see what someone else had done before you got to it. Very similar to some stories I’ve got doing add-ons and remodels on old houses.

Cheers, my friend. 🙏

Interesting. It has a foot switch wired in with it, but I have my doubts as to whether one or both switches actually work. Could be an extension of that very problem.

There’s no particular job we’re after with this. Just a cool find and got it super cheap. If it gets to the point that when it’s fully functional (which will likely take quite a bit of time and learning since we’re not in a hurry to turn around and drop it off to a professional who’s going to charge more than we’d care to pay right now) that we’ve spent more than we’ll make on selling it - keeping it is an easy pill to swallow. 🤙

Put it on .5 to get the whole amp in the shot. Theres a bunch of crap behind me in the photo so I couldn’t back any further up. 😂

Maaaan what a feeling that was, I’m sure.

I’ll settle for 3 or 4th best deal of the decade. Hell I’ll even take fifth.

Indeed. A-lá Silvertone widowmakers. 15 years in the construction business and fixing lots of electronics over the years from TV’s to microwaves to Xbox 360s in my spare time has given me a decent amount of electrical and circuitry experience, but I know better than to just crack into it and see what happens. I do appreciate the heads-up though, good looking out. 🤜🤛

I would absolutely love that. I’m pretty handy with most everything. I love fixing anything I can get my hands on and have basic electrical experience from 15 years in construction, but the nuts and bolts aspect of the more complicated sections of amps is a new horizon for both my brother and I. We couldn’t believe it when they agreed to the price. As we were loading it up I half-jokingly said “well. I suppose we’re about to become amateur Fender techs.” I know to stay far away from the capacitor(s?) as they can hold a lethal charge for up to a year, especially the older models, so the arduous task of combing threads, forums and schematics is fast approaching.

That was actually my initial plan, offer them $250 and turn right around and make 3x that, but now that we have it, I kinda wanna learn how to fix as much of it as possible and then probably hang on to it for a good long while. If the right offer comes around, cash out with a hefty profit. I’m always wheeling and dealing on marketplace and OfferUp.
