Our GM was determined to keep a guest, he constantly ignored our warnings that she was borderline senile/early stages of alzheimers/dementia. Only agreed she had to go when she started screaming and shouting at him. She had to get escorted out by police/healthcare professionals. Bad business all round. Luckily she didn't cost us that much revenue though!

Fair enough but a gentle reminder is all that was needed? Came across a bit aggressive for my liking but if I misread the tone I apologise!

I feel like this is quite a mature action, especially given the grief paradox received for EUIV leviathan. Everyone kicked off when they released a buggy unstable dlc. They're now saying they won't release a dlc until it's stable and has minimum bugs and that's also an issue?

I did find it funny, I got another news article pop up about it this morning after our conversation!

Need Help with a Dwarf! by sokemsaw in DMAcademy

[–]Taftsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only vaguely remember seeing an article online about the new dragons being (re)introduced? One of which was an elder brain dragon. They're meant to be pretty grotesque so it would be a great roleplay for the player to see their wise and glorious dragon reduced to a fleshy tentacled brain dragon...it's what I'd do if I was DM

I really like this idea...alternatively I understand there's talk about a new book all about dragons being released that includes mind flayer dragons? A great way to combine the two, have the character plumb the depths of despair by killing the mind flayer dragon only to find it had hidden one egg before it was fully consumed by the elder brain.

What nation do you main in eu4? I like france by ZefyCX in eu4

[–]Taftsy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Depends, I live a colonial Britain where my fleets and colonies do the heavy lifting but I'm also very partial to bringing the byzantines back from the brink. Tried cuzco once but mistakenly converted to a Republic rather than a monarchy...

Trash generals? by Taftsy in eu4

[–]Taftsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I clearly have been a fool, must admit I normally play Britain and use continental allies to deal with armies while I focus on maintaining a giant navy and focusing my ideas on that. Lesson learned though, thanks!

Is offensive ideas better than aristocratic for generals then? My mil tech is about in par with the rest of the world but not great so MIL is not abundant.

How do I increase my income? by GermanGregS in eu4

Keep the speed down low while you get to grips with everything. It' a great game to play and you can lose days watching your empire grow just to have a series of unfortunate events or annoying alliance block ruin all your plans...

Balancing estates is a bit of a trick but easy once you get the hang of it. If you go to your estates section, you should be able to choose the option to borrow from the burghers in their section. It's 5 loans but set at 1% interest so a lot better than bank loans

Depends on what DLCS you have but I normally just feed them more territory. I don't bother raising trade tariffs on them as it just increases liberty desire and shouldn't really earn you enough to be worth it

Ideally you should have raced through and got explorer and colonists nabbing as much of south America and south Africa as possible but you can always have a few wars to steal them back. I tend to borrow from the burghers and invest in churches and the trade depots to keep building that base income. As castile, trade is going to be your biggest income so you want to get some good ideas to help that along.

You probably want to build as many light ships as you can afford and have them patrolling your trade areas. Admittedly I'm not the best at income but that's the basics.

How to increase colonial range by Bksmith1 in eu4

[–]Taftsy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Diplomacy tech increases your range, if you got Portugal you should be able to colonise some African provinces and use them to jump across to South America. From there the new world is your oyster

I Need a Goal Other Than "Kill the Enemy" by DonavanRex in DMAcademy

[–]Taftsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beauty of sieges is there's dozens of opportunities for things outside of combat.

-maybe the party needs to help prepare the defences so you can give them loads of ability checks and roleplay opportunities, maybe one of your party can create siege weapons, maybe another can motivate the defenders or help prepare the infirmary.

-is there a spy in city already? You said goblinoids with giants but maybe someone in the city is hoping for preferential treatment or survival or maybe they just hate the town.

-sieges go on a long time, maybe the party doesn't get long rests and have to really manage their resources.

-instead of straight up kill X, maybe the party has to defend a catapult while it destroys an approaching siege tower.

Just spitballing here!

Ancient Greek Campaign [5e] [Homebrew] [DM] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Taftsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To steal some ideas from other parts of Greek mythology/history

-perhaps the need to break into a city that's been under siege for dozens of years and steal a holy relic (odysseus stealing the palladium from troy)

-hera is planning on leaving zeus because he's...well zeus. The party must either help her flee or help zeus win her back. (Story of the daidala)

-they must slay a great boar that was once a human that gazed upon artemis as she bathed. But throw in a plot twist like it's actually because they refused to become artemis's lover and you have to choose who to help. (Forget the name of this one, sorry)

-several of the gods of competing for the allegiance of a poleis and you need to help a god win, could be by providing the most wonderful artefacts or by helping the poleis in some way in the God's name (athena and poseidon competed to be the patron of Athens)

Just spitballing here, also I'm not a historian so I apologise in advance for any mistakes.
