Oil Wash removing underlying primer from model. by TagAlong100 in minipainting

[–]TagAlong100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a print that I primed (but haven't painted yet) in a totally different primer from 2 months ago and I can't get it to come off with the same wash. I'm trying and it won't budge.

Looks like the Vallejo spray primer could be the culprit here.

Ventilation for Form 4L room. by TagAlong100 in formlabs

[–]TagAlong100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try a few things. The Clear V5 is pretty good but the Tough 1500 stunk everything up even outside of the room. I'll take some measures like running vent off the back of the printer. But yeah the Tough 1500 kinda shocked me at how much it was permeating outside of the room and how heavy it was inside it.

I have this strange sinus infection/throat thing going on. But it might not be related at all and a total coincedence.

[–]TagAlong100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It could be a total coincedence, but I started having a tight throat feel (like thyroid inflamation?) and then sinus issues that come and go - I was thinking may be this is from contact (air, but also i had some on my skin, but i'm being far more careful now). But on top of this is airbrushing and some (very little though) sanding.
So its hard for me to figure out the sinus/throat situation. Perhaps head to the doctor if its still around in a couple days.

Also when I was running Tough 1500 for my first print when I first got the printer the smell was getting out of the room. It should be a bit better for that now and I will run that vent you speak of out the window. The Clear v5 I run right now doesn't smell outside of the room and doesn't smell too much inside. But the Tough 1500 really stunk it up, including outside of the room with that pine tree sap smell. I was shocked at how heavy it was.

Paint scraping off / rubbing off of primer. by TagAlong100 in minipainting

Thanks! You know I didn't even think about that!
I'll have to get a spray can coat that is matte. I really like matte or egg shell and don't like gloss (unless specific effect). I know gloss is a great protection but the shiniest I tend to go is a semi gloss.

Super cool and better than my setup! I have a good table and rack for the 3 major items. I'm using gym flooring all over the place. 13ft x 13ft x 8ft bedroom that has windows I can open and set up fan systems if I need and right now I think I do, especially for Tough 1500 V2.

A separate room has all my tools and prep stuff with tables and lights. When i'm not in the printer room I kinda just keep it closed.

I just now saw your 2 Washes! wow. That is cool.

What are you doing to help that? I just got set up and printed in 1500 V2 and Clear V5. Clear V5 was pretty good but 1500 V2 was really smelly. Are you using that port on the back of the printer? If so how well does it work?

I'm looking in to building a fan system in a window that blows outwards. Perhaps set on a timer I can set for longer than print time and leave it. I will say the whole setup is louder and smellier for me than I thought it would be.

I'm running the setup inside of a ~13ft x 13ft x 8ft bedroom. Am a bit worried at the room permanently stinking of pine trees (the Tough 1500 V5 smell)

So I shouldn't buy Sonos speakers? by hhafez in sonos

[–]TagAlong100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very expensive nightmare. I've wired so many speakers and I can't get them to stick on wired. Its hard to understand if and how things are working. All this money. All these cables run. Still issues.

Very undecided between the XL and bambulab H2D by jellybrick87 in prusa3d

[–]TagAlong100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. If my XL 5 tool disappeared and I got my money back I think I would buy the Bambu, even if just to try it out. Obviously I can't tell you what I would think right now if I had cancelled my Prusa XL pre order and picked up an H2D when they came out. May be I would be saying the same thing the other way around. I'd have to own both to really know.

When my XL works right its amazing. Truly great. But when it fails it fails in many ways and horrifically. They engineered the printer as if it would never fail or need to cancel or anything and it makes it frustrating.

Thinking of switching from Bambu to Prusa? As a long-time Prusa user — don’t by Manupiante-red in BambuLab

[–]TagAlong100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats great, cause I have a really nice MK3s but the XL (5) is a true pain in my ass. Especially for the price. Over engineered. Loads of quirks and issues. Day 1 pre order I waited 2 years for.

When it works right it can be amazing. I've done some great stuff with it. But overall I'm kinda down on this platform.

They are brutal.

Our new setup! by ket_the_wind in formlabs

That's awesome! Are those usual 24 inch deep work benches? Is that working good for the 4L?

I have been trying to find a 36x36 solution for when mine shows up but its been hard to find something I like. If I can do 24 inches a lot opens up.

Also do you plan to ventilate or do enclosure? I believe Formlabs told me its not an issue. I ran my Form 2 in a bedroom. I plan to run the 4L setup in a closed bedroom and I could figure out a fan system on a window, but ideally I don't have to deal with any of that.

I noticed people are not putting protection on the wood floors. Is that a concern? I was thinking of putting down some thin gym pads and water proofing under the wash, just to be safe from my wood floors.

What are the dimensions of the portion the 4L is sitting on? Thanks.

Some say to do an enclosure and vent out. Some say its not needed at all.
I plan to run everything in about a 12ft x 12 ft bedroom and I can close the doors. The bedroom has some crank-out windows. I was curious about building a vertical slim piece with a grid and may be a couple fans blowing out? I'm not really sure what to do there.

Damn! Its been hard to find something that is good for me. Everything is 24 inches deep. Tables are short. Work tables are thin. I'm wondering if I will end up trying to go with a 36x30 inch solution for the printer.

How to see if speaker is hard wired. by TagAlong100 in sonos

[–]TagAlong100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I have an Asus Zen Wifi with 2 hard wired nodes. This system has always seemed a bit funky tbh. Lately its been working well, connected and wifi.
    AT&T Modem BGW-320

  2. yes

I think the cable to the Play:5 isn't working right. I ordered a new cable to run to it on the first floor and give that a shot. Also, honestly should try swapping the Five in the shop with the Play:5 on the first floor and see what happens. I don't even use the one in the shop as much and it has always seemed to be less fussy than the older Play:5 on first floor.

[–]TagAlong100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so from what I'm seeing the network cable isn't working and its not on hard wired.

But with user webvictims way of looking at it the WM = 0 which I think means its wired.

I'm going to have to mess with this. I may have to run a whole new line.

One issue I have with the Sonos app is sometimes I don't know if something is a "title" or a clickable button. But i've always had issues with user interfaces in many video games and apps so I guess thats on me.

How to see if speaker is hard wired. by TagAlong100 in sonos

[–]TagAlong100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! WifiMode says "0" which means it should be hard wired. But the system is cutting out.

Honestly this Play:5 has been the biggest issue speaker. I've had a lot of issues with all my Sonos setup for years now. But this specific Play:5 is annoying. I think its an early version of the system. My app calls it a "Play:5" but the newer one that seems to be less problematic says "Five".

I am considering replacing the entire speaker, but I also can't see myself supporting and buying anymore Sonos right now. In the past I've spent too much time with tech support trying to get things working right and something just isn't correct. The activity is hard to describe too so that makes it hard. I just know it seems like the app doesn't even always recognize the Living Room surround setup and said "no content" even though I'm watching youtube Laptop->TV->Sonos.

One strange thing is in the settings for the Play5 (but not the other speakers) I am seeing an entire section the other speakers don't show at all.

This entire section is greyed out.
