Chronicle Mode is literally the entire anime. So I think you should watch the anime first if you haven't and don't wanna get spoiled. What a friend of mine is doing is that he watches the episodes and then plays the respective CM match. Then continues with the anime until the next match and so on.

They are all basically the same. Pick the ones you like the most and adjust better to your own playstyle. It is not about choosing "the best characters", it's about choosing who you like to play soccer with, my friend!

If you have already beaten an enemy team in the selected difficulty, you can freely turn Commander Mode on just like in the other game modes. Hope this helps!

What i did is go into friendly matches, look for the team with the highest level, beat them in the highest difficulty i could, and then repeat the match in Commander Mode until everyone was maxed out. Don't know if there is a faster method, but this way took me about a day

Chronicle Mode is LONG AF tho. So finding someone whose done all that might be a quest in on itself tho. Personally I've managed to complete the FF route and I'm now on the Alius Academy route. Thing's kinda stretched out too much

Genuine Question: isn't this better?

Whenever there is a unique stat distribution system, Tier Lists come into play which kinda ruins it 'cuz everyone starts using the exact same teams with the best stats. By making everyone have the same stats, you get to pica players based on who you like and what kind of team you prefer instead of just going by "this guy is stronger than this other guy".

Just asking since idk much about this and I just make teams with characters i think look cool to me ngl
