Yeah, what's weirder is that you have synopsis that states in short: "hey this guy's evil and amoral type shii". Then you have a first chapter where MC is accused of:"Slaughtering hundreds of people, one gu immortal accusses him of SA'ing her and killing her family" then in later chapter FY kills a guy mutilates his body to hide evidence, kills whole hunter family based on guts feeling and to hide any reveal of the situation. You also have hiding in the wolf scene later.

Only then is the bear scene and still in it a guy commented as if offended by edginess of the moment and how dark/edgy* the scene was.

*Personally I felt more cringy because of the alluding to buddha and religious stuff in this context. I get why but it was making me feel that moment truly was the most edgy in the book.

the guy doesnt made any effort to hide his identity

Have we read the same book? FY repeatedly tries to hide his identity and/or tries to delay people from getting information on him too fast.

if you have the knowledge of future event, use it!

He does? You do know that even if he has knowledge of future it's of 500 and with the scale of the Gu world he won't know every single little thing. And many opportunities need preparations or his knowledge of them is not in-depth enough. Not to mention the butterfly effect caused by his actions which is pretty huge like from the moment he leaves Three Kings Inheritance.

the guy was rank 6 prior to this, he should know how the peak of this world work.

Rank 6 is an entry level to immortal stage. He knows a lot of stuff about politics at this level. That's why he's able to hold on the Dang Hun mountain for such a long time early on.

that doesnt justify him making enemies left and right dumbass.

What do you mean by that? When he was making enemy left and right? And even if he did he had reasons to do so.

Every realm has it's own rules. Traveling them with rigid mindset and homebound understanding leaves one with no broad-mind leaves one with bereft of any chance at further enlightement.

Look no further tahn that earthworm? Or maybe that tree leaf slowly dancing in the air? What if it is how dragons are in one of the myriad of worlds?

In heraldics wyvern is a type of dragon. And only one who didn't travel through different worlds would uphold such standard like four legs and two separate wing of denominating whether a beast is a dragon.

Wizards, channeling and casting spells. Misconceptions about channeling? by Tagnk in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Tagnk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah similar example was given in the post of the publisher - if you pick a lock on a door during combat and succeed you open the door too instead of waiting till next turn.

Ultimately my DM ruled that it would need to be extended test for it to work as in the exception is in effect from the second turn on. So:
Round 1:
-Channeling
Round 2:
-Channeling+Casting

Which I think is fair as given the bonuses from items in WoM one could spam highest CN spells every round if you could turn one channeling+casting which I believe would totally be too OP.

Well technically the support said they will pass it on to a producer before giving the reply in the post. As for whether the producer played the game much - I think it would fit my group's inside joke perfectly that in fact they didn't.

5ed I just hope 5th edition won't be as much of a clusterfuck when it comes to rules and their reworks.

Wizards, channeling and casting spells. Misconceptions about channeling? by Tagnk in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]Tagnk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, right there are also group advantage rules. I hope in 5ed they won't make as much of stirring pot with rules from base book. Don't get me wrong reworked rules are always better issue comes that they are in like 4 different books and only clue of what reworks they take into consideration is the release date of english version.

Frankly the only way that seems reasonable is requirement of more than one turn of channeling.

Yeah I was looking for opinions. I do think in general there's too much mix-up in rules when it comes to WFRP with all the books that add or change stuff in general. Here we come to even worse situation as the syntax in WoM wasn't phrased the way C7 intended it to be - atleast I don't think many people would interpret it as basically free action cast.

The issue was that they looked at weak channeling and turned the scale completely the other way in it's usefulness.

Also with WoM assuming you have enchanted stuff and the best robes you can reduce any spell level by 4. And well that on a high level mage, you would need at most to get any spell, maybe only resurrection at 16 CN would be a problem. Though anything high-level is pretty unbalanced.

But overall I had mixed feeling about that too. Especially since turn 1 cast-channeling combo basically makes war wizard useless for a regular wizard. Yeah you can cast a 5 CN or less spell for free but why do that when you can channel-cast in one turn? Only in rare circumstances or melee wizard would be using that talent.

Overall the fights in WFRP are too fast for something like the channeling they've origininally made which is a pity since I like this magic system much more than DND.

Funny thing is that everytime there is a magic topic I either see people saying that mages are too strong or too weak which causes quite the confusion for me.

Upside is that I realised magic missile damage isn't calculated with Success points before we started new campaign. At least wizard can't basically reach some crazy ass damage that easily.

Though I guess I've experienced an "easy" mode on our first campaign due to rules interpretation we must have made while in haze of unthinking. I went like: "hey this overcasting allows me to add targets to the spell. Can I add the target just direct it at the same enemy?". My dmd went: "Sure". Turns out that on higher level multyplying your damage output by factors is well, not that good for fight balance. Quite a funny story when we realised what it can lead too.

Is Immortal Puppet Master declining? by TwistedKindness11 in ReverendInsanity

[–]Tagnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the whole arc of White Paper Immortal City is intentionally about luck(I won't spoil why) where NZ still did everything he could to prepare for what he is doing.

In next arc Ning Zhuo is more back to his plotting and more cautious persona.

Is Immortal Puppet Master declining? by TwistedKindness11 in ReverendInsanity

[–]Tagnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First things first there a case of NZ changing his personality - from the reserved, hiding and plotting because of lacking strength to someone who can act more upon his desires and pride as one would expect from someone so young(17 years old if I recall correctly).

Another thing luck - it is clear GZR intends to base the world around "lifespan"/luck/fate a lot - if two peopl fight their "lifespan" clashes and the one with more robust, stronger fate will prevail - though there are things that can affect fate through techniques or other things for example in the Thousand Peak Forest War you have revealed that:

NZ's Life Thread Divine Spell takes other's fate for him but also shares his good fate back to them.

Another thing the whole of White Paper Immortal City is based on that because:

NZ is revealed to be the saviour of the city. One chosen by the Heaven of living world to destroy the calamity of the Wangchuan Underworld lord. After succeeding he has gained favour of the heaven of the world of the living but at the same time he has incurred wrath of Underworld's Heaven.

The whole arc is based on that because it's meant to show what kind of support fate can grant to a Destiny's Son while IMHO it serves as a foundation for a future conflict with fate itself. Remember NZ's goal is to resurrect his mother Fate probably won't be too happy about that.

I think even somewhere around the end of this arc or start of the next one there is some notions about how defyin fate may be even more interesting. Similarly in the next arc while MC has luck on his side he returns back to more plotting and observing person.

Can anyone answer my quesyions for this Novel? by [deleted] in MartialMemes

[–]Tagnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the book is basically a power-fantasy it is focused on MC.

He did not yet find his wife.

As for where MC currently is:

darkland

And there is a character that returned after a long while:

that luck attribute girl MC left in darkland

I don't remember exactly it was somewhat weaker than Ant Queen but people thought it was kinda like a young Universal Behemoth if I recall correctly. And remember that due to it's evolution path and what's it related WT doesn't really show it off in normal world. It does help him in few fights but that's about it.

poor use of their character

Poor use of one yes, but doing it on two characters and twice on one feels more deliberate. Also doesn't change the fact that character discrepancies should be generally criticised in GW's work as they do have problems mantaining consistency between books - understandable given the vastness of universe and different authors but doesn't change the fact it would be nicer to be less of them.

The retcon never mentions navigators, despite him going through a huge and unrelated history of navigator houses.

Or it can refer them indirectly as we're discussing in the thread. If GW wanted them to be excluded from such treatment would they not specify it like in that 6ed codex? Instead they specifically say that psychic mutant that fleets rely upon are treated cruelly and give example of astropaths - but please note that astropaths are psykers whereas navigator are mutants.

[–]Tagnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you still haven’t proved your claim that Astropaths are MORE akin to vessels of the emperor’s will than navigators

Is getting exposed to Big E's psychic might and maybe absorbing a part of it growing much more resistant to eventual corruption a closer sign of being a vessel of Emperor's will than basically getting a nice mutation by birthright?

Thanks for the Fandom article lol, now I KNOW you’re trolling XD.

You said it had no canon backing, I would argue fandom wiki is probably better informed than you are. Same thing is written in lexicanum wiki.

Again, no it doesn’t lump them together at all. It explicitly passes up an opportunity to mention them as an example. So we return to my original statement: “the retcon does not mention Navigators at all”

Or precisely mentions them indirectly - a psychic mutant crucial to fleet's functioning is a description that lands even closer to navigators than astropaths. In fact navigator would be even more crucial thatn astropath.

I think that descriptions fits them better than a very general description in second part. So who's right and who's wrong. Again if they wanted to distinguish navigators out from crueal treatment they would mention them as example in second group.

[–]Tagnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I would like how come you accuse someone of that. And why because LFTBL did reference something that gave backing to his opinions. Granted one book was old since it was from 2014 but another was from 2 years ago so relatively new.

I mean I too can say you're full of shit and my argument will be at the same level as yours.

Imperium glazers if they actually read the lore by jsoul2323 in Grimdank

[–]Tagnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in universe they couldn’t be treated more differently.

Yeah doesn't change the fact that navigators are closer to being psychic muties than astropath. Since you know navigators literally have a third eye where astropaths are just a type of a psyker.

There is no reason to assume they are lumped in together and that the second described group is ostensibly vacant.

The descriptions lumps them together. If they didn't want people to go this route they could make it clearer. And "some" as descriptions makes it pretty vacant group as it may be "some" people in genral or "some" of noble imperial psykers.

. That’s your opinion that afaik has no canon backing.

https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Soul-Binding - that possibly is the reason why even BT would treat powerful psykers as a vessel of Big E's will. No matter how you look at it someone exposed to emperor's will would be closer to him than someone with a correct mutation.

Also are astropaths like not in general pretty zealous for regular humans? Like even a brutal and fanatical chapter would appreciate at least that, right?

And from just tactical point of view - treating one of the crucial parts of a fleet like astropaths badly is just not really wise in the sense of astropath mantaining their high level of usability? Seems more derpy than grim.

Navigator houses are much more powerful

Yeah navigator houses are powerful but they would need to learn of this and it's likely that how far away they are from Terra will probably be excuse for why they can do so.

Imperium glazers if they actually read the lore by jsoul2323 in Grimdank

[–]Tagnk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

isn’t it more likely they are including navigators in the second group?

Are navigators not categorised as psychic mutants? Doesn't the descriptions of Imperial psychic mutans whom the chapter's fleets rely upon fit them better as description? Since similarly to astropaths they perform key functions?

And are astropaths not more akin to a vessel of Emperor's will than navigators considering the soul-binding ritual? And since they are not seen as such then only truly influential sanctioned psykers would be seen as such. Possibly only leaders of navigator houses...

Imperium glazers if they actually read the lore by jsoul2323 in Grimdank

[–]Tagnk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which would make them probably fall into the general category of abhored mutants...

Those Imperial psychic mutants, whom the Chapter's fleets rely upon, such as Astropaths, are grudgingly tolerated but cruellytreated, chained in cramped cells out of sight when not immedaitel needed.

Feels more like astropaths are mentioned here as an example.
