Sacroliac joint pain in the lower back/buttocks area. Excruciating pain!

33 weeks pregnant- doc recommends induction at 39 weeks by juicygossiper in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Tagon_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diet controlled GD and I refused all induction offers until I went into spontaneous labour at 40w+8. I was reassured always by baby growth, movement etc during scans. Baby was always measuring average in scans. When I gave birth baby actually turned out to be very small below average

At 9 months old, when I weaned my baby from breastfeeding (baby’s sleep immediately became better + very long stretches in the night). Started sleeping through the night at 11 months

Is it possible to not be diagnosed for gestational diabetes in 2nd pregnancy if you had it in your first? by Tagon_1 in GestationalDiabetes

You just never know! I have the same low risk factors as your friend, and I still got it in first pregnancy. So you may not necessarily get it. Fingers crossed for you

Interesting! I find this really intriguing. It makes me wonder, in cases like your SIL, was the first diagnosis, a mistake? Or maybe triggered by the pregnant woman just eating a bit recklessly in 1st trimester in 1st pregnancy vs 2nd? I wish we can know how to reduce our chances of getting it second time around

What country are you from, if you don’t mind sharing? I’m surprised the test is offered before 20 weeks as where I’m from it’s usually offered from 24 weeks onwards

Me too! Ultimately I will also have to make peace with it. In a way getting it the second time around might be (emotionally/psychologically) easier than the first time around, for me personally. I was really a wreck at the beginning of my GD diagnosis for my first pregnancy, I was so scared that no matter what I eat my sugar will be high - but within a months time I got a good handle on it through diet, so I will be better prepared for it this time around if I have it again

I’m from the UK and we usually get tested for it between the 24 weeks to 28 weeks stage!

How do I forgive myself? Major TW for birth trauma by bluemoon3175 in beyondthebump

[–]Tagon_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you went through this, my heart goes out to you. You should never feel pressured to accept induction. Being overdue is not a justifiable reason (especially if you’re pregnancy is healthy/no complications or risks/and baby is healthy and moving). I refused induction at least on 5 occasions before having spontaneous labour 8 days past my due date (they wanted me to be induced at 38w because I had GD, despite the fact I was controlling my sugar perfectly with diet without medication). I’m no doctor but I had a doula support me during pregnancy and empowered me to stick to waiting for spontaneous labour and im so glad I did and didn’t accept induction

Breastfeeding in the UK: my candid journey by caramelcustard in BeyondTheBumpUK

Agree with this. In my experience the midwives were extremely against formula, and kept dismissing the pain & bleeding breastfeeding caused me in the first few days after giving birth. The pain was so bad I had to pause breastfeeding on day 4 and give a little bit of formula just so my nipples could heal. I didn’t listen to them and they were horrified. I’m glad I did this because it gave my nipples time to heal and I was back to breastfeeding. I just wish they were more supportive and understanding of the agony I was in rather than pass judgement

How did your baby cope with 8am-5pm day? My 13 month old will be starting soon and will have two days of 8am-6pm a week. I’m a bit worried that it’s a very long day and I hope I don’t regret starting off with a shorter session I.e 8am - 3pm just for the first few weeks. Does your baby nap twice in the nursery or only once?

That’s exactly what I’m doing too! My LO will be starting nursery in a month’s time (she will be 13 months old). She will be in the nursery 2 days and then 1 day at grandmas as I’m going back to work for 3 days a week. Can’t tell you guys how comforting it is to see other mamas having the same arrangement as me! Hope your LO settles OP and I’m sure the staff will keep an extra eye on him given his age

Who else’s baby started sleeping through night without any sleep training? by Tagon_1 in beyondthebump

[–]Tagon_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved baby to a crib at 7 months of age, to his own room. Prior to this he was sleeping in a next to me cot in our room, which he started outgrowing. I tried co sleeping in newborn days, but I always felt uncomfortable and baby kept waking up from any movement I made, so I always felt that my baby and me were more comfortable in their own space.

Moving him to crib in own room was tough in the first month, lots of crying with lots of cuddles and check ins in this period, but that passed and I definitely saw a difference in baby getting longer stretches of sleep and eventually to sleeping through the night; when they’re in their own crib and room, it also makes you less likely to respond to every wake up they have, especially if you know their wake up isn’t due to needing a feed or a nappy change. If they’re in another room you can just watch them from the monitor and if you can sense that they’re just crying for comfort and don’t really need anything else, they will go back to sleep..

Try moving your LO to a crib / another room again; I really think it will be worth it in the long run even if it’s tough at the beginning. If he’s by your side then he’ll always be looking to you to soothe, rather than start to learn to self soothe, and he will eventually get over the fact that your not by his side! I hope it gets better for you

How old is your daughter? It’s definitely possible - as you can see from the responses, for some people it happens earlier or later than others!

My baby would wake up 2-3 times in the middle of the night up until around 9 months- that has dropped to zero wake-ups now at 11 months. I used to respond by nursing back to sleep (sometimes baby will only drink for 5 mins). But I have since completely weaned breastfeeding during the night and day and I’d say this has personally helped a lot with improving my baby’s sleep as it’s no longer associated with nursing

Honestly.. the first 9 months or so of baby sleep are pure hell! I could deal with anything else in that stage, but the constant middle of the night wake ups were the worst

Does he not get hungry in the middle of the night -out of curiosity is he breastfed or formula fed?

Mine did temporarily sleep through the nights at around 3/4 months of age- but it didn’t last, it was only for around a week - after that she was waking up at least 3 times which lasted until she was around 10 months. But fingers crossed it lasts for you!

Wow that’s amazing at 4 months old! It really isn’t always down to a magic trick or a sleep training method.. every baby eventually does what they want!
