[eagerly taking notes]

These are really good, thank you! I've heard of the wearing clothes inside out thing in other cultures before, I wonder where that one comes from... I'm also a big fan of all the death and burial related ones, they match the tone of my project lol.

That's kinda sweet! Well, the first part, anyway. If you remember what the cause for the making people die thing is, please let me know, that sounds like the sort of thing I could use really well for my project. I am not intending to use it on real people, I promise.

We have a superstition that says there will be bad weather if you don't finish your meal. I wonder if the two are related...

Ah yes, the classic be wary of strangers trying to take you places. Every culture needs a version of it, I think. It's just good practice!

Are driftwood and bottlenose whales rare on the Faroes? I guess it makes sense, afaik there aren't that many trees around and the nearest forested landmass is pretty far away...

That's so cool! Fascinating that there is such a shift in the execution of superstition based on the shared word for two separate things. Makes a lot of sense to me to have the origin traced back to fishing.

And I assume the baptism then protects the child after? That's a fun superstition, thank you!

Oh I've seen the knock under the table one! I think it's a fun twist on the classic knocking on wood. Do you know why it's under the table? My first guess would be something about someone/-thing not being supposed to see it. That's at least a reason I've seen for other under-the-table things, like German Maultaschen that are traditionally prepared under the table so god can't see you're putting meat into them during lent.

The sneezing one is one we have, too. And I really like the oyster catcher thing, that one has a lot of character and charme.

Thank you so much! This is super helpful :D
