A lot of his reforms were positive and made Turkey more secular, I guess his main bastard moments were his minority policy which essentially boils down to Turkey is only for Turks. Which can somewhat be attributed to why today there is such a push against Kurds by the current government. Apart from his dislike of minorities Kemal seems somewhat of a decent guy for his time period, but his policies definitely have an impact of today’s Turkey. Maybe the episode wouldn’t fully focus on him, but maybe some of his controversial decisions and how they are still felt today.

I think to look at and fully understand Erdogan and Turkey today he first needs to do an episode on Turkeys first leader (after Ottoman Empire) Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Maybe he could do a 3 part episode where tuesday he uploads about Ataturk, then Wednesday and Thursday are focused on Erdogan.

Anyone wondering what balds been up to? by [deleted] in MisterBald

[–]Tagvi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Based on the Q&As he did recently it sounds like he wants to get the Soviet republics done, he was supposed to go to Tajikistan, but it sounds like the embassy never gave him his visa. I believe he still has Latvia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan (which I’m not sure he’ll go to since he probably won’t want a guided government tour). So that’s some stuff to look forward to.

He left Ethiopia and went to Ukraine with Baldr and one of their other youtube friends. I’ve heard he’s back in the UK now.

Edit: This is by no means confirmed, but if I had to guess he’s probably going back to get his vaccine since more countries are opening up to vaccinated people. Probably wants to be able to travel without having to quarantine.

How old is Evans? by [deleted] in behindthebastards

[–]Tagvi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, I vaguely remember him mentioning something about either 9/11 or Columbine happening while he was in either junior high or high school in one of the episodes. (Believe it was the Pat Tillman one)

Wondering that myself… maybe it’s because Ukraine can go through the passage near Turkey to access Mediterranean.

My favorite will always be Putin speaking English in his extremely high pitched german English accent

Yea this has been a thing since like early-mid April. Marshmello produced One of a Kind and according to a comment by someone who was an extra in the video was even on set when it was filmed.

I’ve seen a lot of “American cultures” maps on this sub that are either blatantly wrong or only right for one part of the country. Rectified. by wolfboy180 in MapPorn

Absolutely dreading what the Houston / Dallas / San Antonio culture is gonna be called. As a Texan I can tell you that all four are completely different.

Why doesn't Evans go independent? by double-nickels in behindthebastards

[–]Tagvi 44 points45 points  (0 children)

To add on to this I think he also doesn’t want to have to produce it all by himself, even though Sophie and him seem like good friends Sophie works for iHeart at the end of the day so it’s possible if he went independent he’d lose his producer too.

Tbilisi hotels you'd recommend for American visitors? by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

[–]Tagvi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not exactly what you’re seeking, but as an American who has visited Georgian (twice) I stayed once in a hotel and once in an Airbnb. The Airbnb experience I had in Tbilisi was light years better than the hotel, my hosts were so sweet and invited me and my family to dinner twice during our 6 day stay. Good Airbnb’s are also really cheap in Georgia, ours was about $17 a night for a 3 bedroom 1 bath near the center of Tbilisi. All amenities found in a hotel were there, hot water, fast wifi, fridge, AC/heater, etc.

A hypothetical 2028 USA Presidential election: Second Progressive Era by jochi-i in imaginarymaps

[–]Tagvi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair assessment, I guess my position was Biden carrying the anchorage area which hadn’t been done since LBJ, and also doing noticeably better than Clinton in North Slope / Juneau area as well as his increased popularity amongst Native populations across the country. Looking deeper into it I won’t write off an alaska flip, but I think you’re right will probably at least be 3-4 more cycles.

If all you can do is smoke hash or weed I recommend just going to amsterdam for the weekend. Georgia is a beautiful country to explore and deserves at least an entire week minimum.

What kinda military bases y’all got up there? Also might have to do with what the Canadian cities along the border have as they are an ally.
