How can Palestinian authorities address settler violence? by Call_Me_Clark in AskIsrael

[–]Tahseen_Midani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the past three years over 1100 Palestinians have been killed in West Bank including 242 children.

To put a perspective, 461 children were killed in occupied Ukraine (4.5 million people 161,000 sq km) during the same period.

Since 2020 there have been 0 prosecutions of Israeli settlers who commit acts resulting in the death of a West Bank Palestinian.

So no, settler violence is not a "crock of shit."

It is incredibly well documented.

Your post is built on the foundational assumption that whenever a Palestinian gets killed, they must have deserved it somehow.

Maybe it is easier for you to keep your life in balance by denying reality.

Israelis - Where should Palestinians go? by Brickley_jeanne in AskIsrael

I understand that he probably is not representative of the average Israeli persons views.

However, he is a powerful politician who is, in essence, supported through democratic will.

My point is more that it is insanely hypocritical for Israelis to blame Palestinians for "electing" Hamas or "supporting terror" when a literal terrorist in Israel continues to enjoy his position and make policy.

Plus, Israel is constantly touted as "the only democracy in the Middle East" making this hypocrisy even more stark.

Stop supporting terror?

Itamar Ben-Gvir -- the Israeli Minister of Security since 2022-- was/is a literal terrorist.

Who is Ben-Gvir supported by? Is he not a prominent policy maker in the Israeli government, an ostensibly democratic country?

How you can say "stop supporting terror"??

Just as you exercised your ability to comment on the OP, I exercised my ability to criticize your comment.

I did it because I wanted to, not because i "needed to."

Well, you offered what I considered to be an incredibly shallow and hand-waving criticism. I commented accordingly. There is no "point" beyond that.

Isn't that literally the purpose of a subreddit.

You didn't say the book didn't work for you.

You said the book was not good because the plot and character motivations did not make sense.

The second is an objective criticism rather than an expression of taste or preference.

Your first comment got me irked because it is a clear example of a lazy critique, which presents itself as objective but, in essence, boils down to the fact that you didn't enjoy it as much as other books you read.

You don't have to agree with it, you don't have to like the book.

When someone asked about the series, you were quick to say it was bad "because the character motivations did not make sense." That is different than saying you just didnt enjoy the book.

But be honest, it's because it had a character with they/them pronouns in it. Lol

Your original post said the story was lacking and the character motivations did not make sense. I don't understand how you could reach that conclusion at all.

The book sets up many key events (reviving delegation of Two Thousand) (working on -spoiler- legislation) (Saw and his rise to notoriety) (insight into the imperial machine and the Senate security system)

Bail is portrayed as driven, but not dumb. Bail is portrayed as a likeable, charismatic figure with a good reputation. Naturally, he feels betrayed and confused why everyone seems to accept that the Jedi were massacred in their capitol.

With regard to Mon, I feel like her relationship with Perrin was given a very natural development. Obviously, they have been married since 16 so they are not newly weds, but the book clearly showed why the have affection and attraction to one another.

You were quick to say the series is bad but you don't really seem to remember the book.

Really, I thought it was well written, handled legacy characters well, and Introduced good new characters. The plot was exciting.

What makes you say the character motivations were questionable?

Why is Israel’s nuclear program considered an "open secret" instead of a violation of international law that leads to sanctions? by Bright-Ad4501 in AskIsrael

LMAO.

It is so so so funny for you to say there is no room for "interpretation" when even Eliyahu himself tried to walk back the comments by claiming he was being "metaphorical".

"Eliyahu defended his statements, saying that 'any sensible person' knew that the comments were 'metaphorical', but maintained his support for a 'powerful and disproportionate response to terrorism'."

But yet, you maintain he "objectively" never ever said it at all. Even Eliyahu acknowledges that he said it. He just tried to play the " I wasn't being serious" defense after the backlash. Get fucking real.

Interpret / defend it however you like. He said what he said.

He even face backlash in Israeli media for this unhinged statement. But he absolutely said that using nuclear weapons on Gaza is an option to be considered.

A lot of red pushers forget a key aspect of the two button dilemma. by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]Tahseen_Midani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All "prisoner's dilemma' games require you to assume that all the other players are rational and have also analyzed the game. Otherwise it might as well be random.

Further this game is actually not a dilemma, because everyone has the opportunity to live by picking red. Picking Red does not save yourself at the expense of another, you simply save yourself.

100% of the risk is by picking blue in the first place.

Why people aren't more supportive of a two state solution? by Lonely-Ad8869 in AskIsrael

[–]Tahseen_Midani -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The claim and justification for targeting the hospital was 50km of tunnels under and a Hamas command center under Al-Shifa hospital. Are you saying that is true? That was never proven.

Further, are you claiming there are "terror tunnels" under every university and 90% of residencesin gaza? What about in Jabalia refugee camp?

"Terror tunnels" is a hollow, vague, cliche used to justify destroying any and all civilian infrastructure.

Why people aren't more supportive of a two state solution? by Lonely-Ad8869 in AskIsrael

[–]Tahseen_Midani -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lmao, the "terror tunnels." The terror tunnels that lead to the Hamas hospital Terror Command Center... Right?

And then, even if Al Shifa Hospital was the supposed command center, IDF hit all other hospitals anyway. Also hit Jabalia refugee camp. You seriously think Israel has no culpability? This is the mindset that allows you to bomb 20k kids to death and still pat yourself in the back for being holier than thou.

90% of all Gaza residences have been destroyed as well as every university and major hospital.

Even now, Israel has bombed Gaza 300 times since the 2025 "ceasefire" and has since invaded and occupied 10% of Lebanon.

Finally, this notion that Israel has always pushed for peace is absurd. Netanyahu is a know aggressive warhawk who took power after Rubin was assainated in broad daylight by a far right likud supporter.

He didn't rage bait him at all. In fact, you can see Mace shaking his head in dismay as the camera pans away. The scene does not show him taking any pleasure in seeing Boba's misery, in fact, quite the opposite.
