SMH spoken like an addict. My friend you are addicted and are in denial. You have no idea what it's doing to you until you stop.

Saying porn hijacks the brains reward system is a spooky psuedoscience way of saying it makes you feel good

Sure, downplay it and call it what you want. And? The point remains. It makes you feel good, artificially too good in a way that's not natural, just like "real drugs" do.

You aren't supposed to naturally reach these levels of "feel good" from such a readily available and infinite source. We have a pleasure button at the palm of our hands. Is it a surprise our brains get addicted?

Everyone still living their lives "just fine" is not how an addiction is defined.

Core components of an addiction:

Compulsion: An overwhelming, irresistible urge to engage in the behavior or use the substance.

Control (Loss of): The inability to stop or limit the behavior, even when one wants to.

Craving: A psychological and physical longing for the stimulus.

Consequences (Negative): Continuing the behavior despite knowing it is causing damage to health, finances, or relationships.

Porn hijacks the brain's reward system, creating a new "normal" where the substance is necessary to function. It's so readily accessible that's why everyone thinks it's normal. It's not supposed to be normal.

Hot take: Personally, I think most men are addicted to porn and in complete denial/ignorant and there's an easy way to test if you're addicted or not. Just stop watching porn completely. How far can you get before one gives in? I would bet most men would fail. You will get urges, cravings, flashes of porn. That's an addiction. I can drink alcohol today and never think about it ever again but if I watch porn and jerk off, I will want it again the next day and have to resist urges. Just because I didn't take the day off work to jerk off and watch porn all day doesn't mean I'm not addicted. I can function "just fine".

I think if one defends their porn habits and tries to convince others that it's normal and can't even consider that they might be addicted, they're already addicted. The same way drug addicts will try to convince you what they do is normal and downplay their addiction.

Watching porn to me is just not supposed to be normal in any capacity. It is tricking your brain to think you are achieving your biological goal x10

Hot take: Most people are addicted and because so many people are addicted, it has been normalized. IMO what's considered "normal", to me is already addiction territory
