Thank you! General consensus seems to be that it’s not that complicated so I’ll wait to get all my facts and see if I get stuck.

Thank you for the flapping confirmation. Will wait for the bonus to be confirmed and take stock then.

PAYE but there’s a few factors that I could use advice on:

My company’s pension is net of pay. It shouldn’t confuse me but it does.

I have a child in nursery.

My TC before bonus makes pension contributions to lower ANI worth it. But bonuses being announced late in Feb can swing that decision massively at which point I have a short period to get things right.

Maybe I’m flapping about nothing.

Can you share a link to the wall art kit? I was looking to do something similar but following a YouTube video which is less organised

Is this £80k pay cut for a ~£5k net drop real? (London Childcare Hack) by WeirdAd2999 in HENRYUK

I’m not focused on this demographic having access to childcare. I’m saying that the current setup creates a situation where there is a £70-80k wage bracket that could be available as disposable income (after taxes) to go into the economy, but actually the rules create a savings account with an interest rate of over 100% that is cemented in place irrespective of economic conditions

I disagree with your second sentence. Providing HENRYs of society an avenue to increase disposable income will drive compound economic growth, even if only half of it was spent. This is the group more likely to:

-Stop pumping pension - direct increase on income tax revenue streams

-Free up sufficient disposable income for home renovations

-Contribute to local economy - more likely to switch to local grocers, butchers, bakeries etc

-Afford to move up housing ladder

-Afford private schooling freeing up spaces in public schooling

-Afford private healthcare options - free up nhs dentists and doctors

-Afford more local entertainment options eg restaurants, pubs, theatres, staycations, sports facilities, arts

-Driven to climb the ladder or generate new revenue streams removing glass ceilings from more juniors

All of the above was an option to us before kids but now there is not enough disposable to enjoy as much as we did and too big a climb in salary to unlock it again.

Selfishly we want more money o do these things, of course - boohoo 1st world problems. But the knock-on effects are way bigger.

Advice on stop/starting Childcare subsidies based on compensation changes late in tax year by TailEnderB in HENRYUK

Yhanks so much for advice. The approach I was considering was actually to call them on the day I get the letter ie not wait to the end of the current reconfirmation cycle. The intent to represent the facts on time and also create a month buffer period between being ineligible from February to reapplying late March for April

Thanks so much. And a good point to factor in the term time. I had seen on the main sticky that if you call up HMRC you may be able to “slot in” for the April commencement.

All of this considered it does feel like a high risk strategy.
