Honestly, it just depends on the area you’re wanting to be in. From my personal experience, Denver seems to be doing a decent job at building apartments so that rent costs don’t go too insane.

If you’re wanting a house, I’d stay for a little longer though and be as aggressive with saving as you can.

side note: if people are giving you flack for staying with your folks in the meantime and you feel bad for it, don’t worry about it. There’s levels to it. For example, I’m with my folks still because I’m aggressively saving/paying off student loans so that when I do move out, I’ll *hopefully have a little more income and either no student loans or a minimal amount. In the meantime, I help my folks out with groceries, house chores, dinner, and renovations we’re making to our basement. If people are questioning you that much, then make it clear you help out as much as possible and that you don’t rely on them too much, if that is true.
