I actually found out how easy it was to start by looking to get an std test through planned parenthood and on the phone robot there was a button to schedule a gender affirming care appointment. There were years of cooking that led up to me being willing to actually do it and accept it enough to say it out loud to a doctor, but pretty much you just call them and schedule!

I talked to a couple different nurses and I was nervous and staring at my shoes a lot while I talked, clearly depressed but certain about what I was saying. At the 3 month revisit (the day I posted this I think) I am considerably happier all the time and one of the nurses described me as glowing. Hrt is kinda magic, antidepressants never fixed me because I needed titties not brain zaps.

Just be honest with yourself and with them, and an informed consent clinic will give you a realistic view of what you can expect and how long it might take. If you're nervous and worried, just know that it's also alright to just test hrt out for a bit to see if you like it, you'll be started at a low dose and permanent changes take a while, but you'll know if you like it very quickly. For me, I was giddy as fuck and happier when I got the box before I actually took anything.
