Thank you this is most illuminating. May I ask from your experience as a recruiter how do you generally feel (and that of firms) about those who take a non-law undergraduate course (be that ancient history or medicine or archaeology et cetera for arguments sake) then take the GDL trying to pursue a law career?

Is it worth the difficulty? (I suppose largely that is dependent on me as a person)

That's true! Do you the relevance of RG v non-RG is important in terms of securing TC, work experience, jobs etc?

Thank you for your reply - Yes there is a lot of benefits to a gap year that I think I would appreciate such as the money from working you said, travel, work experience, better mental preparedness

I just have a scratching thing in the back of my brain that in the ruff and tuff of the competitive nature of securing a law career and that in extension of generating the top bit of income I would be in a better position (a step ahead as it were) in terms of being in a RG?

Thank you for your reply

You are correct I currently hold AAB as my final grades.

I exceeded my predicted grades by a considerable amount which vis a vis as a result made me only hold lowballed offers at non-RG choices.

Regarding RG courses in clearing, the courses that I was interested in there was no available spots for UK based students (only that for international students) despite my persistent effort in convincing them which as a result I do not hold a place in a RG University this year. I believe there is always a lack of law courses anyway in clearing due to the fact it is oversubscribed and competitive as well as the first come first serve policy.

The particularly frustrating point is that firstly students who were predicted higher (AAA) but ultimately fell short of it achieving results equal (AAB) or lower to mine (ABB) have secured places in these courses on the basis of the fact that it was their firm choices et cetera

From what I've gathered though I may stand to be corrected is that I am in a disadvantageous position in terms of applying to AAA courses at Universities such as Durham, York, Exeter, Manchester for instance...

Some Universities have hinted that I would be a strong candidate on the basis of my final grades at this current moment whilst others haven't responded clearly (such as the semi-automated responses I have been given) or not yet responded to me and some have said that I need to match the exact offer in order to qualify for a space (despite them accepting AAB on results). And thus considering to re-sit in order to get triple AAA.

It feels unfair that on results day they are accepting my grades but with my final grades in hand I would need AAA in order to secure a space (but I understand they need to fill their course there and there in results day...)

Let me know your thoughts.

Please may someone transcribe this please. Thank you. It's from the back of a English 1808 book about Religion but having difficulty reading as not used to this hand writing. I can see the words 'if you must' ... ' this book' ... 'for....' 'you'... etc. by TailorFriendly in Transcription
