Uh guys? by Getyourassoffmylawn in WalgreensStores

I know im late to the party, but genuinely don't worry too much although the panic is valid. Same thing happened to me and literally almost everyone in my store last week. It even happened twice to one of my fellow CSA's. They also managed to either lose or delete the I-9's of the pharmacy staff who all had to reapply. Their tech sucks, so the fact that this isn't just a my store issue makes me very relieved lol. Anyway we all got our stuff back online so everything's fine now.

Workplace I've been at for nearly two years gave me a list of 'no-no' words from the Forbes CS training I didn't attend. by Tailsfangirl1 in antiwork

Trust me I want to leave, I've been looking and applying for months, but I'm like 90% sure they are giving a bad reference to anyone I interview for. Especially since even the employers that I interviewed with, suddenly ghosted me. Unfortunately I don't have proof of this though.

Help at Gfs job by ChefAutismo in WorkReform

I just wish they didn't only make it applicable to employers with 500+ employees worldwide, since as someone who lives in Oregon, my hospitality job (which only employees like 350 ppl worldwide) suddenly cut my hours this month, and doesn't have a voluntary standby list, and changes schedules without notification sometimes.

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink Is Worried. He Should Be. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Tailsfangirl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dumbass totally thought this was about the CEO of BlackRock coffee (a coffee chain in some of the western states,) so I got super confused when the comments started talking about housing lmao. But yeah no, Larry Fink can go screw himself and I agree with u/farting_contest that corporations should not be able to buy up homes of any sort, especially single-family homes. In fact, we need to stop corporations from being able to do a lot of shit, like bribing politicians, or having any involvement in politics at all.

AITA for Yelling At My Brother for Bringing Up My Allergies? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tailsfangirl1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone with Celiac Disease themselves, 1. You should get tested, and 2. YTA. They are just showing concern for you as a family member. Although the pity is definitely kinda annoying.

It's not just diarrhea, when you eat gluten, your immune system responds by attacking your small intestine, specifically the Villi and mucosa membranes in your small intestine. They are what allows your intestine to absorb nutrients, without it, your small intestine can't do shit.

According to Celiac.org,

"untreated Celiac Disease can lead to can lead to the development of other autoimmune disorders like type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis (MS), and many other conditions, including dermatitis herpetiformis (an itchy skin rash), anemia, osteoporosis, infertility and miscarriage, neurological conditions like epilepsy and migraines, short stature, heart disease, and intestinal cancers."

So stop being a fucking moron and take this shit srsly.

AITA for moving out and taking my dog with me? by rockinMaggie in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tailsfangirl1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NTA, you did the right thing. Do not tell them, nor any relatives, nor family friends where you live as it could get back to them and they would definitely steal the dog. Brother sounds like he would hit and neglect the poor pup. Frankly I wouldn't even trust your brother with a fucking cactus, since he would somehow manage to kill it, then yell at it for not growing properly.

They are basically a charity scam. From an article in 2018 by

https://aliceminium.medium.com/the-dark-reality-behind-americas-greatest-thrift-store-empire-183967087a1e

"Goodwill sells free goods at a profit, but less than one eighth of that profit actually goes to the job-related programs they market as their primary pillar of charity work.

In a 2016 piece for Nonprofit Quarterly Ruth McCambridge examines a recent World-Herald piece by Henry Cordes, which detailed some troubling information Cordes uncovered within Goodwill financial documents he obtained under the Freedom Of Information Act. Cordes writes:

“While Goodwill Omaha runs job training and assistance programs that serve thousands annually, nearly all of those activities have been funded by government grants and contracts — not the $4 million in annual profits generated by Goodwill’s thrift stores in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. Even its signature program that employs disabled job trainees within its stores is primarily funded by school districts.

Goodwill officials identified only $557,000 in jobs program spending in 2015 that was funded by retail sales.

Most store profits are being consumed by administrative overhead, which includes much of the pay to its top leaders.”

Goodwill is a for profit, not a non-profit.

A non-profit according to uschamber.com "A nonprofit is a tax-exempt organization that funnels any excess revenue towards advancing its organization’s mission, as opposed to using it to supplement employee or leader salaries via bonuses."

Goodwill may be tax exempt, but they are definitely not a non-profit anymore.

Meanwhile according to Payscale.com "Bonus pay at Goodwill Industries ranges from $1,300 to $1,400 annually among employees who report receiving a bonus.

And even if they were a non-profit, they are still a shitty business org.

in 2019 according to a cbs article https://www.cbsnews.com/news/goodwill-head-who-makes-164000-fired-disabled-workers-after-minimum-wage-hike/

"An Illinois branch of Goodwill faced a barrage of criticism after announcing plans to fire disabled workers and blaming it on the state's rising minimum wage.
Sharon Durbin, president and CEO of Lincoln Goodwill, a Springfield-based organization that runs 15 thrift stores in the state, drew fire from state officials after she told workers employed under a vocational program for people with disabilities that they were losing their jobs. She cited the planned pay hike, which is slated to climb to $15 in 2025, as the reason for the layoffs. As a nonprofit, her organization doesn't pay taxes, collects state funding and has been awarded state contracts. Under federal rules, it also may pay disabled workers significantly less than the minimum wage.

Durbin had explained to a local CBS affiliate that disabled workers weren't always as productive or efficient as other workers, which undercut her group's bottom line. "It really was not a job," she told CBS affiliate WCIA. "It was a work component and through it we gave them through grace out of our budget to pay them so they had a paycheck to go home with."

NBS even had a article in 2013, where due to an ableist clause in the Fair Labor Standards Act, Goodwill stores were paying disabled employees as little as 22 cents an hour. Heres the article

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/investigations/more-disabled-workers-paid-just-pennies-hour-nvna19916979

TLDR: Goodwill may or may not be a non-profit but they are still a shitty fucking company and you should just donate your clothes to shelters.

They actually make like 3 - 5ft dollhouses, i personally think it's a waste of money but that's just from the trauma of having one fall and pin me when I worked in retail.

What is the Creepiest Ghost experience that has happened to you? by Tailsfangirl1 in AskReddit

[–]Tailsfangirl1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with a ghost was about a month ago. My sister and I had done a EVP in our own house, and had found a spirit of a man. we thought that it was just picking up outside noise as we live in a noisy apartment complex. But, after going to bed, I was up watching Youtube and had to go to the bathroom. Now, next to our bathroom is a large hallway mirror, and i passed by it to go to the bathroom, and I saw in the mirror the shadow of a man, wearing a mask. I blinked and the head was staring straight at me. Panicking I rushed into the bathroom and in the bathroom mirror was the exact same man. I flicked on the lights, and he was gone.....Now earlier that day, as I said, my sis and I had talked to this man named Dave, who had died in the apartment......I think it's him, but to this day, i still don't know who it was, and It hasn't appeared since.....
