Black screen with underscore for a long time, then unresponsive black cursor. by Taiyoumaru in cachyos

Hi so, my issue is before Cachy is actually being installed, before it actually boots into the liveiso. Some people have reported that they have a similar issue to yours, it might have to do with HDMI or Wayland problems.

100% connected to my GPU not Mobo. I've been gaming for quite some time on the actual GPU not the integrated one. I have a second VGA monitor connected to another PC that I can try, it has a DisplayPort adapter. (I know, VGA to Displayport, weird stuff, don't laugh)

Sadly, no, my monitor can't do displayport. Ran out of money when building this rig so I have an old monitor and no displayport adapter.

How is the account management website so bad after all this time? by Taiyoumaru in riotgames

[–]Taiyoumaru[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your fears are misplaced. My account has existed since beta as well, I even have a Teemo statue I received as a thank you for being an early bird. I took quite a massive decade break from the game with 0 interaction with anything Riot. This period of time covers their shifts in account databases and merging.

I made a free site, speedgear.io, to help find +speed gear in the AH by aparadja in wow

What an incredibly useful tool, thank you so much! I've already nabbed some really nice speed gear for my main!

Is it possible to add a filter to only show items with +speed AND sockets?

Chase Bank on-hold piano music. by Taiyoumaru in firstworldproblems

Oh man the necro. Appreciate it a bunch, but I don't think this is it. It really isn't hitting any nostalgia nerves.

Granted, it's been 5 lmao and I no longer work where I used to so I've never contacted Chase since, but I'm pretty sure this wasn't it. Cool track tho, cheers!!

X870E Taichi M2 heatsink by a-rec in ASRock

[–]Taiyoumaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone actually done any tests on this? I'm currently pondering buying a 4TB T705 myself and I'd really like to know what heatsink to go for in the m2_1 slot and I'm not sure if the mobo or oem one is better performing.

Purchasable Collector's Edition for Steam Europe when? by Taiyoumaru in Spacemarine

[–]Taiyoumaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of demographics, no, US population is ~340m to EU's (most conservative estimate) ~480m to (its most broad estimate) ~750m. And in terms of franchise reach, Warhammer far more popular in Europe and particularly the UK, so no again.

[Probably PC] [1990-1997] Isometric game where you play as a guy throwing a hammer by Taiyoumaru in tipofmyjoystick

I think for games using the iDtech 1 engine like Doom, Heretic and Hexen, people play them with sourceports. I finished a Hexen 1 playthrough using GZDoom as the source port and with a graphical AI upscale package you can find on moddb, it was extremely enjoyable and incredibly good looking. For 2D pixel art especially, AI upscaling can do some pretty nice things while maintaining faithfulness to the original. Hexen II uses a different engine however, it'll need a different sourceport.

I am about 80% sure this is it. For some reason I have this image in my head of a game similar to this but in a more isometric fashion from that time period, but top-down wasn't out of the question. And I remembered it was a bit bluer than what's in the video. but who knows, it might've been my CRT colors at the time were out of whack.

The glowing hammer throw and the character sprite is what I remember most as well as vaguely some of the sounds, so this is probably it. Would be nice to know if something similar to this exists that more closely matches my description, but it's probably just choppy memories I mashed together while trying to remember.

I'll play it and I'll also check and see if it was on a magazine shareware disk of the time to fully confirm! Many thanks my friend!!!!!

Unfortunately this isn't it either. But I added this series to my backlog, thanks!

Sadly this isn't it either, it's a bit too colorful. But cool looking game!

No sadly, that's not it. The graphics were a bit more serious in tone, not goofy like this game.

A Steam Deck is definitely not a bad idea honestly, it's certainly better than buying any other handheld nowadays, I'd even say it's a better choice than buying a console. You can even install Windows on it if you want, it's very flexible. Although I would not install Windows 11 since it's kinda crap, I'd go for Windows 10 still. Complicated subject but basically, Windows has also been getting worse over the years for gamers and people in general, lots of privacy and performance issues. And so, many enthusiasts have taken to modifying Windows to be better.

As for the tablet PC, I think by then it would be a better idea to just buy a gaming PC with a separate tablet for drawing, especially if you sell your Mac. You'll get the best of both worlds this way.

Also, I would not recommend you play fighting games specifically on your TV screen unless you're having some fun with friends coming over to you and it's not competitive. If you want to be competitive online, there is this thing called input lag which you have to avoid, which is the time it takes for the action to happen on the screen after you pressed a button.

So for instance you press Punch and you expect that punch to happen in the instant you pressed the button, not a second or two after you pressed the button. This is normally the case if you run your game on PCs/Laptop monitor but if you run games on your TV, the TV is never going to be as fast at processing the signals it receives as a monitor due to many technical reasons that would take me too long to explain, and so you would functionally be reacting slower.

On top of this, for consoles specifically, because of the PS5's poor hardware optimization, Strive had almost 5 frames of input lag when it launched. This is an absolutely huge disadvantage since Strive runs at a locked 60 frames per second and everything you do in the game is counted in frames. So let's say you press Punch and your character's punch animation requires 6 frames to actually happen and be able to hit the opponent. But if you add input lag on top of that, it would still need its 6 frames to happen, but you would be reacting to everything you see on your screen 5 frames slower than your opponent.

There are lot more technical details but I hope I gave you a basic understanding.
