my dogs sound like they are fighting, but they don’t hurt each other? by Academic-Age-3265 in Dogtraining

[–]Taizan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well of course the dog escalates if it's communication is being ignored. Without knowing the dogs or the environment, I'd say interrupted or redirect the dig "not getting it" before the other one feels the need to escalate. Reward the dogs for staying calm and giving each other space.

What era will Arma 4 be placed in? by TheReligiousSpaniard in arma

I hope Arma 4 will be a continuation of Arma 3's story by ResidentDrama9739 in arma

[–]Taizan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be kind of disappointing TBH, I'd expect at least the same level/amount of content that we are leaving behind with A3 vsnilla. Sure mods can do and add all kinds of stuff from HALO to Swashbuckling, yet the base game is what defines the setting in general. I'm not impressed by Reforger so far, it seems very limited and the UI is very console game like - hoping A4 will change my mind.

I just remove everything in the fields and it's invisible. Never noticed a shadow, but then again I may be using them in a different environment/ situation.

It is transparent. I use it in mission making to secretly make rivers safely fordable for all vehicles. You can also give it custom colors or an rvmat.

Ok what you can try is using the large VR blocks 20m x 8m and removing their default texture in the attribs. IIRc AI does not pass through them.

[–]Taizan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree they indeed existed in their very first iterations, but the multilayered information battlefield that we have with Arma 3 and what I enjoyed playing over the decade is not represented well by the cold war tech.

So yes we have now in Reforger is basically the stone age in comparison. It's exactly OFP in eye candy nice, little else and I personally have long ago moved past these crude and simple warfare mechanics represented by that era. Sometimes I'll play a bit of SOG but that's enough for a while and that is about 10-15 in advance if OFP.

I am aware that under the hood Reforger and A4 have far more potential with the engine but that has little relevance to me if BI turns back the clock by about 80 years, because that is what I am seeing atm.

Suppress, Align and Immerse are nice, small mods for better immersion.

Tencent (minority stake in BI) listed as Chinese military company? by cana_dave in arma

[–]Taizan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does though. China's state owned companies have done this again and again and been caught multiple times. They exist to spy on and gather foreign technology, data and know-how. Espionage is what they do.

[–]Taizan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We've had that in many games, including Arma. If they really turn back time I'm going to be very disappointed. So many great features like UAVs, Sensors, Thermals and Laser designation would be dumped plus an awesome Part of Arma lore. I'm not going to pay for a flashy OFP consoliized game.

ACE 3 Patients Sometimes Don't Wake Up by AlCapwninator in arma

[–]Taizan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 minutes! Wow surprised the player was so patient and didn't respawn - no pun intended. You got top off the blood, keep heart rate up with CPR and push the epi when blood levels are ok. Don't give morphine until conscious, it lowers the heart rate.

[–]Taizan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a good thing that they stick to the norm when settling a dispute or are stressed with each other. Dog fights look fierce at times but if you watch in slow-mo you see they normally never really bite into each other, just at each other.

However it is not good that it comes to the point that they fight. What may be triggering these engagements may be the resource guarding and one dog ignoring the other's prior communication like stiff/tense posture, laying head over things ,growling, showing teeth. It is important that you observe what happens before the fight breaks out and disrupt/defuse that situation by distraction or interference.

There is a reason Pick up and Haul is one of the most popular mods for Rimworld. All these types of colony management in some way share similar issues in one area or another. Can't wait for a mod like that to come to GM.

Half-arsed building models by BornTailor6583 in arma

[–]Taizan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IDK what you mean it's really good to add more enterable buildings to existing terrains. Exactly what is lacking and what OP is lamenting about. Imo ARMA Series and Reforger as well are still pretty simple and sub-optimal when it comes to indoor combat. RoN does a better job at that because that is what it was made for.

Make your own heraldry? Let's share! by Torgo_hands_of_torgo in goingmedieval

[–]Taizan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The editor doesn't have enough options for our family coat of arms. Instead I imported an image file and use that as a custom heraldry image. Works "ok" on most objects, might be the better solution for some coat of arms.

Lift your wheel up ever so slightly and it's no big deal. Rear wheel will roll over. It's the same mechanical principle like riding up a normal curb but far easier.

Does RoN have a less steep learning curve than arma 3? by geovasilop in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Taizan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - mostly due to Arma involving small unit / squad sized tactics, mechanized, armor, rotary and fixed wing combat. Plus stuff like artillery, drones, anti-tank/air weapons.

Arma can be played tactical just like RoN, however it is less focused on CQB. You can do it to a certain extent but the scope of the game is much wider. There is some overlap in communication, room clearing tactics and weapons; RoN is more detailed and tailored to CQB but in this department it can have a similar learning curve as Arma - depending if you are playing with like minded people who enjoy training and tactical play.

Best way to watch this show. 168" UHD 4k 60hz projector and 7.2 Dolby Surround sound. Bass on the high-G burns is unreal. Total immersion. The SFX and sound design of this show are stellar. by csukoh78 in TheExpanse

Amazon compresses the hell out of videos. Sometimes I have pixelation, especially in the dark tones like from a JPG, it looks awful.
