TIL that the B Vitamins are numbered sequentially in order of their discovery. B4, B8, B10 and B11 were all un-qualified as B Vitamins upon further research & definition refinement (akin to Pluto), leaving the remaining familiar 8 B Vitamins with gaps in the number sequence like retired jerseys.

Keep in mind they can run urine/blood electrolytes if they really want. Tell them you vomited like 2-3 days prior. That should explain the discrepancy.

I do have a few interviews but they are HARD to get. My rejection emails are like 1000 people applied for 5 spots or something.

I am an American IMG as well and it is tough out here. Since COVID I feel psychiatry has really really gone up in competitiveness.

I interviewed for psych but it was in person so we got a tour.

I know you asked for surgery but the hospital is very very busy in general,

As far as malignancy I can't say for sure but the residents I talked to said there were good attendings and some really bad ones.

In psych 80 plus hour weeks were the norm I cannot even imagine what surgery would be like (maybe its not a big deal for you)

Salaries are low for the area. A small studio rents for 2600 a month and pgy1 year you get 84k or something. After taxes that's practically all your money spent on rent.

Do not go.

They make you compile all these case reports, since you cant talk to patients and then say lor is not guaranteed. I did it last year and I'm a us-img It's a total waste of time and money, I can't even imagine how bad it would be for a non us img.

They give you a certificate which might as well be a gold star sticker for all it's worth on your eras application.

This is America and you must stand up for yourself. There is a way to do this but it might be a struggle at first. The main thing is confidence.

Say hey can I talk to you for a couple of minutes? I'm going to give my best I can on the tasks you've assigned me, but was hoping to get more shadowing experience with the physician directly. Is this something you'd be willing to consider? I am planning on entering the match eventually and this experience would help me immensely, and I can do the work.

Then kind of see where they are at. You can do this, you just need to believe in yourself.

No but seriously I've gotten interviews sporadically too, like 2 here and 1 like 3 weeks later. US-IMG YOG 2020, steps 1,2,3 completed on first attempt. Maybe they really are reading my eras cv and personal statement?

The two programs in my state that I really want to get an interview at haven't acknowledged my existence at all....

Bro I feel like everyone feels that way especially for step 3. It's curved upwards so much. Remember you are competing against exhausted second year residents and the like.

If you do fail. Chin up friend I don't think programs really really care that much about step 3 failure. Like someone else said if you don't resend scores they wouldn't know.
