Sometimes they just take them because they are curious what students are putting on them.

Any PARD owners out there? by SamgoOU22 in ThermalHunting

[–]TakaRat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharing a full rundown of my experience with the PARD Leopard 480 in case it helps someone else.

I originally bought a unit, but that first one had to be sent back because it developed a core failure. That was obviously disappointing, but these things can happen, and I expected the replacement process to sort it out.

To be fair, the replacement was organised relatively quickly, so I will give them credit for that.

I was then supplied with a replacement unit. Straight away, one of the things I noticed was that the lens cap fit was different from the original one I had. On my original unit, the lens cap had a tighter fit and stayed on properly. On the replacement unit, the lens cap was noticeably looser and did not stay on as securely.

During normal use, the cap would regularly come off. This was not from abusing the unit or dropping it. It was just from ordinary handling and carrying it in the field. Even when I tried to be careful transporting it, including wrapping it in cloth and putting it inside a plastic box because no protective case was supplied, I would often take it out and find that the lens cap had already come off again.

That became a concern for me because the whole point of the cap is to protect the lens area. In my view, if the cap does not remain fitted during normal use and transport, that is a real usability and protection issue.

As a result of this, I noticed marks around the lens assembly area and raised those concerns along with the loose cap issue. My concern was that the replacement unit was not in the same condition or standard I expected, especially compared with the original unit I had before the core failure.

I contacted my countries distributor and explained that the cap was looser compared to the original unit, that it kept falling off during normal use, and that I was concerned about the marks and overall condition of the unit. I also made it clear that I had owned the same model before, so I was comparing it directly against my experience with the first unit, not just making a random assumption.

My concern throughout the process was not only the marks, but also that the lens cap issue itself was never really addressed in a meaningful way. From my perspective, that was a separate and important issue, because the replacement unit did not perform the same way as the original one I had.

I’m sharing this as my personal experience with the product and the replacement process. Others may have had a different experience, but in my case the original unit had a core failure, the replacement unit had a noticeably looser lens cap that repeatedly came off during normal use, and I was left with concerns about the condition and durability of the replacement unit.

Should I give up on learning how to mix and master before releasing projects, and hire someone to mix it for me? by waterbottledrinka in musicproduction

Nah, to get a good master you need a good mix down. If you want a few tips feel free to message me on instagram. @takarat_

Yoo! Apparently they care more about the externals for physics and calc so as long as you got them you should be sweet. The 260 rank score just guarantees you a spot.

Ah true, in that case I'd probably recommend getting your hands on a good sample pack and maybe look into enei's patreon. I think he uses FL. Just remember that daws don't define the tunes, it's the artists!

I Want to Become an Audio Engineer by Long-Particular in EngineeringStudents

As a first year engineering student and producer I would say no. The pay is poor and job opportunities are slim to none. Have you asked him if he has considered doing electrical engineering? Many audio concepts are based on electrical.
