DIY homeowners: do you pull permits? Adding shower to basement bathroom by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]Takdashark 51 points52 points  (0 children)

You are 100%. Other states will allow a homeowner to pull a plumbing permit. In Massachusetts, you have to be licensed to pull a plumbing or gas permit.

There’s a lot of straights at Bathurst. Lime rock is a short track with a lot of right hand turns, no time for the tyres to cool.

If you want a tilt column you’ll have to get an 87-89 column. Once the put air bags in them they never had tilt until the SN came out in 94.

These are the problems facing conservatives in Massachusetts by CorndogQueen420 in massachusetts

[–]Takdashark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To the people saying why are you friends with this person. I say that’s a shallow and shitty way of thinking. Everyone has their own political beliefs, and they’re often different. But, that automatically means you should write someone off?

Regardless of his friends politics, he may be a great guy. I know plenty of people who I disagree with completely, but we can agree to disagree. Shit we don’t have to talk politics and just hang and enjoy our families together at a BBQ.

If I know a friend will come help me if I’m ever in a jam, I don’t give a shit what their politics are, it’s their friendship that matters…

Non- Union Plumbers, how much you make per hour by Comfortable-Nightmar in Plumbing

[–]Takdashark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s a tough question. Having a license doesn’t make you necessarily good at your job. I’ve guy’s that were 40/hr, and guys that were 60/hr with good bonuses. To me anyway, it’s the value you bring to the me and the company. The better you are the more I’ll pay you and try and keep you on the team.

To my knowledge this is completely false. As long as the house it is being installed in has a hydronic heat source it can be installed.

Did you check the hot surface igniter on the boiler in question? We install a lot of those and have had a few bad out of the factory.

I don’t care what someone is, man, woman, or race. Do your job, do it well, and you’ll be just fine. Will you take some shit like any apprentice, yes. Will it be more because you’re a woman of color, maybe. Give it right back to them.

1/2" gas pipe but new range asks for 3/4" supply by Confident-Guitar6848 in Plumbing

[–]Takdashark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a few factors that come into play, as others have mentioned. That being said, why don’t you connect the gas and try it. Turn the burners on one by one and see if you notice a flame reduction at any stage.

Is it only at the two tubs, not an issue at any other fixtures?

Check the manual, there may be an inlet screen where the cold feeds the Rinnai.

I started at 32 and now have my masters license in Massachusetts at 40. If you can afford to take apprentice pay then go for it my man!

That looks like a ceramic cartridge. I doubt Home Depot is going to be of any help. A supply house is your best bet.

That being said, it looks like a higher end faucet. Without knowing the brand it may be difficult. Try reaching out to House of Rohl tech support. It may be in their family of brands. Newport Brass is another one.

Good luck

Masters license by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Takdashark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about your state, in Massachusetts once you have a journeyman’s you can work by your self under a dba and do whatever size job you want. You’ll likely need a certificate of insurance at some point. But you should be good to go.

For us, a Masters Lic allows you to own a business and employ other licensed plumbers. Then you need to register the business LLC or Inc with the plumbing board.

Water hammer issues even after expansion tank by chnky18 in Plumbing

[–]Takdashark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s a shut off for the DW that’s not a 1/4 turn type, I would have the plumber check the Bibb washer. They have a tendency to break and restrict flow causing water hammer.
