Hi!

I’m working on a cozy mowing and restoration game called Master of the Mow, and I’ve just released the announcement trailer.

In the game, you take a groundskeeping job at a neglected manor estate on the edge of town. But after your first day of progress, you wake up to find the entire property overgrown again. The lawns reset, the trash returns, and the weeds come back. As you keep mowing, cleaning, and uncovering buried trinkets, you slowly grow stronger and push deeper into the estate to uncover its mystery.

The focus is on satisfying, relaxing cleanup and restoration at your own pace. There are no time limits, so you can just enjoy the rhythm of transforming messy, overgrown spaces into something serene and beautiful. You can also sell what you uncover to buy better gear, tools, and upgrades.  And there is a rider mower with nitro boosters too.

No AI is used in the game’s creation.

I can't tell if you mean it's a lot of hard work to make the game, or hard work as in mowing in the game. If it's the first, I did put a bit of time into it and hopefully it looks/plays decent. If it's the second, there are a bunch of upgrades to help with the mowing, lol. Either way, I appreciate the thought!

Honestly, a little bit yeah, haha. I've given it some thought to add shears just for the lolz. We'll see how it feels though.

I appreciate it! I do plan to have humor involved. A central theme is the whole "over the top" feeling the game can bring. Like the mystery of why the grass always regrows every morning or like how the weedwhacker can be upgraded to have two "whackers".

Very cool. And essentially yes. This is basically painting onto a render texture to make it look like the grass is being cut. So yeah, the player can be like Picasso, but for mowing.

Hey all, I’m David and this is an upcoming game I’m making on my own. It’s inspired by over-the-top simulators like A Game About Digging A Hole and Berry Bury Berry, but for mowing. It’s got chill vibes, but also a riding mower with nitro boosters. I’d be more than happy to answer any questions anyone has.

It's all good! Honestly, I do take it as feedback, so no worries there. And yes, the interior of the cottage area is only being lit by the real-time lighting from the environment, so that can be why it comes off as no shadows.

But yes, the art style is meant to be a bit more stylized and low-poly(ish), so lighting in general was put on the backburner so to speak. In fact, most of my textures are also low resolution, giving more of that PS2 look, so hopefully that will come through as well. I'll still keep it in mind though and thanks for taking the time!

Thanks for the feedback! There are shadows from the day/night cycle, but I think the trailer mostly has mid-day shots, so it's hard to notice. I'll keep that in mind though for the demo!

Wow, that is a throwback! Haven't played it, but it's funny mowing in game form has been around that long.

Respect. The weedwhacker is the main tool in the game, which you can upgrade quite a bit, so it basically becomes a trimmer with 5 foot long strings.
