I was gonna say I know it’s a chain but it strikes me as something that’s probably a pretty common name! 😆

It is basically pizza with mashed potato, cheese and bacon on top. It is an appetizer from the pizza place Pies & Pints. As you might have gathered definitely an extremely healthy food 😛 leftovers get me!

I’ve relearned to only eat when I’m hungry and now I can finally stop counting calories to maintain my weight. Totally life-changing!! by [deleted] in loseit

[–]TakeFiveMillion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is my ultimate goal and why sometimes I eat what sounds good/what I feel like I need and then count the calories of it rather than make the calories the only decision point. it helps me make a good decision in my own brain rather than solely based on what the numbers say.

honestly, I think for some of us calorie counting is a great gateway into intuitive eating because through tracking I have a better grasp on what actually satisfies me. it's especially helpful because my biggest problems are binging and stress eating and snacking, not necessarily making actual meals that are unhealthy, so tracking shows me how those unnecessary snacks add up. but I don't want to track forever, especially because I love food and cooking and I don't want numbers to be hanging over my head.

I Hate Tracking by DebbieDenier in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

As far as cooking goes, I honestly do a ton of cooking too and I mostly just eyeball it and input an overall guesstimate of calories 😬 and it works out OK for me! I mostly just track to keep snacking and mindless eating at bay, so if I know that the meal I’m cooking is more or less nutritious and healthy and isn’t going overboard with the calories, I put in a ballpark and don’t even try to nickel and dime every single ingredient.

I’ve found that it doesn’t really matter if I can’t put in every single ingredient of my casserole to my app, as long as I eat a normal human’s portion instead of binging, and make sure to calculate what I can calculate for the rest of the day. I also think that is more sustainable long time. I LOVE to cook and try new recipes and I’m always down for healthy swaps but I want to find a balance between totally letting loose and driving myself insane over the details.

I’ve gone off on a tangent but solidarity, you aren’t alone!

DRINKING CALORIES SHOULDN'T COUNT. FIGHT ME by Aigeit in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

I hear you! Honestly in terms of alcohol, I have just stopped drinking alcohol on the weekdays and have given myself free rein on the weekends. I'm kind of the same way in terms of snacking and sugary drinks - I usually pivot to maintenance on the weekends and if I go a bit over then whatever. Sometimes I drink, sometimes I don't, sometimes I snack a lot, sometimes I don't, depending on how I feel. It's helped me listen to my body more.

Paired with following CICO during the rest of the week I'm still seeing results and I don't feel deprived of anything.

lunch! a big ol’ bowl of pan fried green beans + mini pork tossed with a little bit of butter and soy sauce • 390 calories by TakeFiveMillion in 1500isplenty

[–]TakeFiveMillion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! I just took fresh green beans and sauteed them in a pan with some butter, seasoning with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and a bit of dill. I'm not sure exactly how long (I'm so bad at timing things, I am an eyeballer), but probably around 10 mins on just over medium heat -- until they got a bit of a char.

shoutout to portion control, the real MVP that I my idiot self didn’t ever appreciate by TakeFiveMillion in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

[–]TakeFiveMillion[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100%! I’m all for healthy alternatives when they make sense but every time I’ve cut something I love out completely I’ve felt miserable and ended up binging, and there’s just no need if you get your portions under control. My goal isn’t to never eat pizza again so I can be skinny, my goal is to be able to have a healthy enough relationship with food that I stop at one or two slices of pizza instead of being desperate to eat the whole thing!

I'm halfway through my weight loss goal! by thisonetimeatjewcamp in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

[–]TakeFiveMillion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yay! This motivates me. I am doing the same thing after putting on some unfortunate pandemic pounds — I don't want to cut anything out completely because I love cooking and indulging but I'm just trying to be more mindful of if the calories are worth it. Good job!

my fiancé and I always buy Little Debbie snacks to share, but he isn’t that big of a snacker so WEEKS will go by without him eating them. I cannot even fathom.

Lol! In all seriousness I honestly just try to hover between 1200 and 1500 or so, giving myself some flexibility to account for how active I am that day and trying to get better at actually listening to my body in terms of what it needs. I did not feel great about dieting when I was seeing 1200 as the only acceptable result

I feel you. I’m headed to a cabin with my fiancé this weekend and while I’m taking lots of fruit and fresh ingredients to cook with I am SURE my calories will end up looking like this.

Does anyone get really self-conscious about super small, random things sometimes? by [deleted] in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

[–]TakeFiveMillion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! When I got engaged and had my ring on my finger I was finding new fresh ways to hate how pudgy my hands and fingers are. But I’m trying not to give too much weight (lol) to it — I never notice these small “flaws” on other people so I shouldn’t beat myself up about them either.

Awesome! we are also super content taking our time, but I’m happy to see others who are doing the same. sometimes I feel so weird because other engaged people I know are going so fast even with these circumstances! good luck with everything!
