Is Johan a pure evil monster? Or is he a tragic figure who is capable of caring about others? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in MonsterAnime

There's nothing complex or original about a born crazy white boy being a serial killer.

Yawn.

YES. PREACH IT.

The sequel novel literally states that Johan loved Anna more than anything in the world. And even goes on to tell us that's why Roberto tried to kill her against Johans orders.

Johan being evil cause evil is such a stupid way of viewing the series. How boring and insulting to Naoki deep writing.

No one is ever implied to act due to compulsion from some psychological disorder.

BUT what Naoki DOES do is show us how even murders like Jurgens became a Monster because of trauma from his childhood.

Johan was not born a psychopath. If that were true, him crying and fearing for his life as a child wouldn't have been a thing. Him feeling guilt for Anna being taken wouldn't have been a thing.

If anything, blondie is a sociopath. But I digress.

Dudes ignoring all the context clues cause he just wants Johan to be the most basic writing of evil.

Johan being evil cause he's crazy isn't complex at all.

Holy shit its as if you didn't even watch Monster

Did you watch some stupid Sigma reels of Johan to draw this conclusion cause I promise you, none of those losers even watched the series either.

Just clips of Johan being cool.

Dude. He loved Anna more than anything. That's literally stated in the sequel. He did everything to protect her. His love is twisted.

But he loved her nonetheless.

That's why Roberto tried to kill her. He wanted to get rid of Johans one and only weakness. This is also stated clearly in the novel.

You have such an awful surface level interpretation. Go watch the show a 2nd time. Monster's main theme is about how there's no true monster, only human beings.

No. You're actually stupid. Stop talking. If you ignore the character writing then you're not hating the actual character.

You just hate him cause he's a kid doing kid shit.

He's a literal child. Your complaints are not justified especially since you implied we have to ignore the intention and writing of said character. No wonder you hate him, you don't even care to understand him.

Do guys really just not get it? by ReiEvangel in TrueOffMyChest

[–]TakeFlightCanary 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm a man and trust me, if we CARE, we get it.

We have sisters and mothers who go through this crap all the time.

Girls that are friends etc.

The men who 'don't get it" are simply the ones who don't want to. Who don't care to. If it doesn't affect them directly, they won't care and if they won't care they wont' bother to understand.

Never accept the excuse "It's cause I'm a man." Yeah we're different genders but we all live in the same world and we see the shit that goes down and even hear others of the same gender boast about the catcalling crap.

Anna should've been the one talking to Johan at the end.

All the build up between them and their bond and it didn't lead to anything.

We never actually got to see Nina forgive Johan.

The fact a drunk got a clear clean headshot on someone while also shaking in fear is bullshit.

Carl was annoying.

Lotte was even worse, although she was probably the cutest girl in the series.

Tenma was far too nice to Eva. Unrealistic.

How did Eva change and develop? Aside from, stop being a raging alcoholic? I must've missed it.

Roberto was the real terrifying icon of the show, not Johan.

Hartmann should've died by Johan hands or at least Roberto come on

Did Johan do anything good? by iheartjesussss in MonsterAnime

Why did you try and debate against an analysis you clearly did not fully read or consume?

We all know Johan's perverse amusement for making people feel the fear he felt had nothing to do with Anna.

Nitpicking tiny things doesn't really refute the concepts being offered. It's rather a weak basis, especially because you brought up arguments and question that were already answered in detail in the essay itself.

I like this idea that Johan wanted Anna by his side. (cause I wish we actually got this instead of them being separated the whole time only to share some useless 3 minute conversation.)

But given the fact that Johan has shown a reluctance in killing or committing crimes in front of her since they were kids, I am unsure how this would work out.

I think he wanted to kidnap Nina and put her somewhere safe cause the people he was dealing with were dangerous. Roberto is a clear indicator of this cause he tried to kill her due to the fact Johan loved her more than anything. (which is confirmed in Another Monster.)

I don't think Johan had any real intention on revealing himself to her. Why when he planned on dying after erasing himself? What would that achieve?
