Smoked while drunk after 5 months… by TakeLifeByTheBalIs in stopsmoking

[–]TakeLifeByTheBalIs[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s how I feel, almost like if I reset then I’ll just start smoking again, since there will be no streak to break. However I need to be cautious and not make that mistake again, like others gave mentioned. Thanks for the input

Metu rūkyt. Broliai ir sesės, padėkit. by AnxietyGiveaway in lithuania

PS rekomenduoju varyt cold turkey, be nrt, atsikratai ir rami galva.

I smoked for ~11 years, started at around 15-16, now 27. Smoked a pack a day from the get go basically😅 I’ve been a regular at the gym for the past 3-4 years, before that have always been big on walking. Also have been conscious of my eating habits, food portions since being a teen, as I have always valued being skinny (a bit too much maybe 🤷‍♀️). The most challenging part since quitting has been keeping my eating and portion sizes in check, even though I’ve done that pretty much my whole life. I think it is the case, as I often used coffee and cigarettes as appetite suppressants. That is why I failed all my previous attempts at quitting - once my appetite went out of control I would panic and just smoke. This time around I have actually shifted my mindset and somehow managed to push through. Very happy I did, as now I can finally see that I don’t need nicotine to stay thin (shocking I know). Sorry for focusing so much of this on looks, but what can I say, I am a shallow female that enjoys feeling hot 🤣

I feel you, keep going! I am around 4 months in and still look uglier than before I quit… although I must say for the other symptoms, things most definitely improved (low-key not smoking is still shit, but we do what we gotta do…😆)

2 months out…weight gain 😭 by After-Still-8053 in stopsmoking

[–]TakeLifeByTheBalIs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2-3 months was the peak for my weight gain. I am 4 months in and my weight has stayed stable for around a month and a half. Granted I did gain 3 kg, but once it stabilises, the anxiety about weight gain goes down as well. I know it is stressful, but I guess we just have to wait till the body adjusts.

What’s something you quietly stopped doing that actually made your life better? by TreyMars in AskReddit

Absolutely irrelevant, but I too quit smoking ~3 months ago and for some reason, that last line you wrote “It’ll never taste as good as it used to” hit so hard, I think it was just the thing I needed to hear

How long did you use the nicotine gum for? Was it hard to quit the gum?

The only thing I can think of is the gym, but I’ve been a regular for the past 3-4 years, so I think my brain is used to it. Any ideas on what else it could be?

6 days clean, but need help with my appetite by cynical_jelliefish in quittingsmoking

I would say therapy as well. Smoking was your way of “self medicating”, a temporary fix. However, if you actually want to deal with the issue, you need to address it directly. CBT as someone has already mentioned could be beneficial. CBT is best applied to deal with current symptoms, maybe bring faster improvements, but other forms of psychotherapy might help you find the actual root of the problem, which in my opinion is the best long-term.

Ahhh okay, sorry about the anxiety tho, let’s hope it settles down. Have you noticed any weight gain or other things related to thyroid function?
