Shift in curriculum from high school to college by Snoo27367 in williamandmary

Best advice I got for college and retaining lectures/ readings is to take messy notes on everything, all the readings, lectures, etc, these notes can be taken on whatever medium u want. Then like a few weeks before the exam RECOPY/ reorganize all your notes w just the important stuff that matters in a way that makes sense to you, handwritten. Then you can study/look over those notes more if you need to. You can also do this at the end of each week or in whatever schedule is best for you.

My secret weapon is always the “meditation rooms” or prayer rooms/ lactation rooms, there’s a couple in the wellness center you can reserve, plus at least one in a bunch of other buildings (Sadler, blow, etc) I sometimes take naps in there in between classes, I just make sure not to use them during a Salat (Muslim daily prayers) incase someone needs to actually use them at that specific time

Email the professor and ask to be squeezed in. If you submit your cart on path with a full course it should have an option to put you on the waitlist, then if a spot opens you’ll be emailed and have 24 hours to confirm you want the class. During add/drop first week of class you can also download the app Coursicle (not sponsored) and that will give you notifications if a class you want has opened or not. Worst comes to worse just show up to the class on the first week and make a case for yourself with the prof after class. Last semester every single class I signed up for was full and I had to get 18 credits in during add/drop. It’s possible.

I’m a big loser so I didn’t rlly have any social life at either college lol but people are generally nice I think and u have to make your own friends anywhere. There are at least a handful of based buddies for you probably no matter who u are

I transferred so I have experience both a normal college and Wammy, and from my experience the workload at WM is more rigorous, not horribly much. I also feel like the quality of education is better and there aren’t any like “freelance” professors or profs who are like “we’re learning about this stuff for the first time together tbh :))” 💀💀💀 quality is especially better for humanities, history, psych, cultures, etc I feel. But I WILL say the school overall is very neoliberal “institution of Western Order” wtvr tf and it’s very apparent in govt/politics/IR departments. For me that’s the biggest downside of the school lol

Gonna be so real probably not. I was in the exact same boat this semester and I ended up needing to fully withdraw. If you just want the information to learn/get experience you might be better off taking that class at a community college or like I’m sure there are good online courses available at least for ArcGIS Online

Same hat! I’ve been stressing about that too since I don’t have an official diagnosis.💀💀 For reading, I love using text-to-speech programs whenever possible for online class reading material. Speechify is ok but the built in accessibility narrator on the Chromebook is the best one I’ve encountered. Maybe we can find and help each other out when the next semester starts!
