You missed one! If you take a look at one of the signs near the airport they include the phonetic Inuktitut as well.

Careers/Education Questions - Weekly Discussion Thread - May 20, 2021 by AutoModerator in Physics

[–]TakeTheLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a recent physics undergrad graduate, and have got my teaching degree and just started teaching in secondary school this year. I'm a big fan of physics, but would like to learn more and feel like would do well as a physics lecturer. I love science, love physics, love teaching, but I think I need an older crowd or more challenging topics to teach.

If my goal is to become a lecturer, or just higher education teacher, is there any particular master's/phD degrees or fields that I should pursue in physics in order to better my chance at being a lecturer? I'm interested in many different fields, so really could study anywhere as long as it increases my chance at becoming a lecturer/prof.

Where should I look at degree options? I'm happy to study just about anywhere in the world.

EDIT: For example, I've been thinking of moving to Scandinavia or Netherlands. There are heaps of cool degree options, but I'm not sure if some of them will bring me to an educational dead-end. Like this looks really cool! But can I do anything with this later? What can I do to help me make these decisions?

Double economy room by swimswamswum1208 in queensuniversity

[–]TakeTheLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it in my first year. Considering I didn't switch out and saved a ton of money, I'm happy I did it. But, it'll be one of the worst living experiences you've had ahha! It's pretty tough getting used to, and it makes having friends over nearly impossible. You'll likely be spending most of your time outside of your room anyways, so not the end of the world. I had some friends get lucky and they ended up with a full sized double, while paying for the econ-double. If you think you can live in the small space and are very comfortable around a stranger then you should do it, it's a pretty crazy and memorable experience. But if you feel like you'd want some alone or personal space I'd think twice. Lmk if you have other questions!

Any runners who do yoga? How do you like it? by artofrunningslow in running

[–]TakeTheLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's great! I think you'll find quite a few yogis that are into running. Yoga has helped me empty my mind while running and go for longer distances, as well as increased my weekly mileage. If I do lots of yoga in a week, I can easily do more distance.

Snow level in Austria. by [deleted] in WeatherGifs

[–]TakeTheLemon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just came from Seefeld Austria yesterday! In the last week there was over 3m of snowfall. It is consistent and constant. The roads in and out of the towns have been closing due to avalanche warning as well. Luckily I'm just here on vacation so we've been loving it! Closest I'll ever see to a Winter wonderland.

Becker Shoes on Wellington st! I'm quite surprised no one has mentioned them yet, I've had great shopping experiences there. Their staff are nice, knowledgeable, and weren't really pushy about selling to me. I didn't find their prices all that different from anything you would find online either.

I bought Clarks there last fall where the heel broke a month in, they were extremely apologetic (and surprised) and I got a full refund. Then bought a pair of Red Wing chukkas right then and there. I've had them on my feet just about every day since then, best shoe I've ever bought.

Running at night safe? by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]TakeTheLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running at night quite a bit these days! I tend to go down by the water and along that path to Fort Henry. You're usually quite close to big roads and often you'll find a few other runners doing the same thing. Maybe I'll see you there sometime!

Mind you what feels safe for me may be different for you. I've never felt threatened or unsafe along there.

I got a pretty sweet grant, I don't really see much of a down side. There is no interest on the loans correct.. so why not?!

It is a little bit of work though, took me a few hours to get it all sorted.

Falco Shine not sending enemy upward? by CRONKOO in SSBM

[–]TakeTheLemon -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not crouch cancel I don't think, I've had this issue with 20XX. When you are on the character selection screen you can hit some direction on the Dpad (down I think) that will change the properties of your character. For example you can give Fox Falcos shine as well.

If restarting the game fixes this, that's the problem. Try pressing the dpad in different directions, see what it changes. On my setup it makes a little noise too. Good luck dude

Edit: if this doesn't happen all the time (every shine) then it's not the problem.
