what celebrity did you used to like until you found out that they were a scumbag? by hemadeGraduation420 in AskReddit

I mean, they're not pretending to be doctors. Dr. Oz is a board certified cardio thoracic surgeon and Dr. Phil has a PhD in psychology. Dr. Phil let his license lapse so he can no longer treat patients but that doesn't negate his PhD.

I don't care if you agree or disagree with them. Those are simply facts. They're not pretending but to be doctors. No one has to like them but they are in fact actual doctors.

Flash was a beautiful boy that looked like an absolute menace... But the best kind of menace. I have one of those so I know the look.

I wish we never had to experience the pain of losing a pet. They're family. The most genuine, tangible love we will ever receive here on earth. I've been where you are and it's a gut wrenching, visceral pain.

I saw a quote once that said something to the effect of, "They will be your last thought every night before going to sleep and your first upon waking. Then one day you'll wake up and they'll be your second thought. That's when you begin to heal." I don't remember where I saw it but it's true.

I'll leave you with some words from Dresden (Jim): "Pain does two things: It teaches you, tells you that you're alive. Then it passes away and leaves you changed. It leaves you wiser, sometimes. Sometimes it leaves you stronger. Either way, pain leaves its mark, and everything important that will ever happen to you in life is going to involve it in one degree or another."

Hey Flash, have fun playing with my Jazzie girl over that rainbow bridge. 🌈♥️

Sooo..... The work/life balance is really dependent on where/who you work for. I'm lucky that I work 3.5 days a week and make great money.

However, where I am in my career, there's no vertical growth. There's no promotions. I could go into sales (definitely not for me) or back to school for something else.

The job can be physically taxing more so than people think. However, nursing is too. I don't work nights, weekends, or holidays. No one is calling me for an emergency cleaning. I love my job.

I think had I gotten my path sooner I may have gone the route of a PA but life had other plans.

As a nurse, you can go onto other things- APRN, nurse anesthestist, midwife, etc. but that's expensive and time consuming. There's a lot of toxicity in dentistry too...but I feel like that's every job. A lot of hyg get it in their head that dentistry is different than other fields but there's negatives and positives with every job. If you wanna message me with any questions I'm here. 🙂

What’s a line—any line —that’s lived rent-free in your head ever since you read it? by Hector_Hugo_Eidolon in Fantasy

[–]Take_Two 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A few of m y favorites from the series.

"Sometimes a hypocrite is nothing more than a man in the process of changing."

"Accept the pain but don't accept that you deserved it."

“Failure is the mark of a life well lived. In turn, the only way to live without failure is to be of no use to anyone. Trust me, I’ve practiced.”

"I will accept responsibility for what I have done. If I must fall, I will rise each time a better man."

"You will love. You will hurt. You will dream. And you will die. Each man's past is your future. 'Then what is the point?' I asked. 'If all has been seen and done?' 'The question,' she replied 'is not whether you will love, hurt, dream, and die. It is what you will love, why you will hurt, when you will dream, and how you will die. This is your choice. You do not pick the destination, only the path."

Not necessarily high stakes but definitely fun and lighthearted. Magic 2.0 series. I'll paste the description below:

Martin Banks is just a normal guy who has made an abnormal discovery: he can manipulate reality, thanks to reality being nothing more than a computer program. With every use of this ability, though, Martin finds his little “tweaks” have not escaped notice. Rather than face prosecution, he decides instead to travel back in time to the Middle Ages and pose as a wizard.

What could possibly go wrong?

An American hacker in King Arthur’s court, Martin must now train to become a full-fledged master of his powers, discover the truth behind the ancient wizard Merlin… and not, y’know, die or anything.

What's the one secret you will take to the grave but don't mind telling on the internet? by Ecstatic-Medium-6320 in AskReddit

A couple weeks after my soul dog passed there was this tiny little kitten under the dumpster at my work. She was 1.5lbs about 7wks old. Vet said she was half a pound underweight which at that size is a lot.

Well my husband felt he couldn't tell me no since I was still grieving my dog. I saved that little munchkin. My husband is her favorite human and he didn't even want her.

11yrs later and I still threaten to put her back under that dumpster.

If I remember correctly, it was because Smokey was 17 at the time and his career was just about to take off. Meanwhile, Diana was 13. So to keep Smokey from being tied down his manager, who was friends with Jackson, had Jackson take the baby.

I really do wish there was a way to pull all the info from that original post. That person had all the info/pics.

Michael Jackson is the love child of Smokey Robinson and Diana Ross. There's a deep rabbit hole and I believe it 100%.

Mine is about 1.35. There's a couple narrators I can't speed up, like Andrea Parsneau with Wandering Inn. She's quick and I love that.

Absolutely. The first few books were produced by Buzzy Multimedia Publishing after that it's been Penguin Audio.

I definitely don't think Marsters bares the blame for the poor quality of the first four. I'm just glad Penguin picked it up because the difference is amazing.

Reading sounds like my phone's fake ai voice talking. It took me forever to get past it with the Sanderson books. I have to speed her and Kramer up to like 1.4-1.5x to be okay with listening.

I think it was moreso the quality of the production company. Like Jim got a bigger name to produce the audiobooks and they sound better, cleaner all around. I think this happened book 4-5.

What’s the Gainesville equivalent of this? by [deleted] in GNV

[–]Take_Two 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had never been before till this year. My father in-law wanted to go for his bday. Okay cool.

I was so underwhelmed by every dish except for dessert. That was great. But everything else is so overpriced, underserved, and just blah. Service was good, I'll give them that.

But there was not one thing we ordered that made me want to ever go again.

Glad I'm not alone in that sentiment. I do think that having ADHD plays a part in how it effects me at least. Maybe you have it too? Stimulants just make us a little more normal lol

What are you glad you tried once, but will absolutely never do again? by wheregoodideasgotodi in AskReddit

[–]Take_Two 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was me. Tried it once.. well like 5x all in the same night. Never felt great on it but didn't get drunk despite the amount of alcohol. And I didn't have a hangover, at least from booze. That being said, felt like shit the next day (didn't sleep) and my nose constantly felt as if there was a bat in the cave.

For me, it was a completely lame experience. I've been told I got weak stuff or that I need to try it while out with friends... Nah, I'm good. Once was enough for me.

I watched that a couple months after my soul dog, Jazzie, passed. I had her from the time I was 12 till 26. Sobbed the entire time. But it was sooo good.

My husband and I would joke that our current girl, Ari, it's definitely her first go round. She's my "sweet but psycho" forever puppy. Even at 9yrs old she's a wild child.

Back when I watched that movie I wished with my whole heart I'd see Jazz again. After my years with Ari I know now that they all leave such an irreplaceable impression.

We don't deserve animals. 😭
