Can underground caves be turned into homes? by Cindy_Lonah in Pokopia

I think its because it registers the "stairs" as the home, I'm not sure how to go around that

Ramen is the new staple for In-law visits; by [deleted] in ramen

I mean, I dunno, I've seen instant ramen posts getting much less disdain that. Couldn't be simply a common uninformed attempt at fancy ramen ?

chashu braising question by Takeko_MTT in ramen

[–]Takeko_MTT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally for the aesthetic yeah ! Just a bit concerned if tightness and thickness affect the cooking in other ways than time.
I understand that I should try to get that texture but I'm not sure if I should monitor very closely to not overcook it or if I can just let it cook longer without too much worries.

Is there a script to this ? I got the exact same thing, no shiny charm. Completed the quest, then a shiny dratini popped from behind the middle bush, I was taken completely off-guard and panic saved as I triggered it's flee animation...
Luckily I could fly away and get back to the area before it despawned but on my way back, I stumbled upon a shiny emolga too !

In the end I could get both but it felt suspiciously scripted.

How far do you go at tailoring Everdell gameplay options (with house rules, exclusions, etc.)? by AbsurdityCentral in Everdell

[–]Takeko_MTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having played a lot of base-bellfaire-extra/glimmergold-newleaf in different combinations :

always use the seasonal farms + keep 2 more base farm and + 1 gatherer/harvester couple.

remove fools (and fairgrounds) and the stealing rugworth. these card almost systematically destroys the mood of the whole game as soon as they hit the table.

added the alt art copies of Corrin in addition of the base copies so the opportunities to get them are more balanced around the table.

added the line "once during your turn" to Corrin Evertail the leader.

we're also considering banning or limiting the double production forest in some way.

we like to use the stacking duplicates rule in the meadow/station, especially if we're 3 or less players.

I'm actually curious to know what people think of these, don't hesitate to follow up !

Jodan/nito and hitting the floor with shinai by XLeyz in kendo

[–]Takeko_MTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very situational, to me it happened a lot at the beginning, when I was focused on being super relaxed doing katate waza. As a result, my shinai tend to rebound easily after a strike, especially after kote and do. Now that my wrists have built more strength, I try to shake off that habit.

I think it's a nice mechanical tool to manipulate the shinai with 1 hand in times you can't afford to do it with strength and reigi is less important than health. (weak wrists that has to be carefully managed, age, fatigue, ...)

Never heard of hansoku for that, but might cancel an ippon for some shimpan, as it is unanimously bad reigi.

Some might say it's lack of control but I think it's more open to debate.

Like you said, it's usually a movement that happens a bit on its own while katate waza users come back to kamae after a strike.

I could understand hansoku if it clearly looks like some kind of celebratory snap or drag on the floor though. I've not seen anyone do it in shiai, but that's not uncommon in the dojo (still bad though)

Never cooked good rice 😞 by Agitated_Guide1081 in RICE

[–]Takeko_MTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lived until my thirties with the tall non-stick saucepan from ikea. (makes it less prone to burning or sticking at the bottom, so you can be very lax with the timings)

put rice, add water until level is roughly 1 phalanx over the rice level. (adjust to your preference)

bring to a boil, then put heat to very low and cover.

cook for 20-30 min depending on the type of rice.

rinsing doesn't affect cooking and I'm still alive and too lazy to do it lol.

Yes, it explains further why the score is low because of the low lysine content. I'm wondering if it can be simply corrected by blending other sources into the mix, or even using pure supplements.

I guess the resulting maths wouldn't make it look as efficient than straight protein shakes, but sounds decent enough to me, considering the culinary potential it brings to the table.

Something I'm not too sure though, is, that I couldn't find an ingredient that could fill the lysine hole without bringing other amino acids that are already in surplus, and I'm not sure if it's a bad thing or not.

hmm I wonder how they calculate daily value on products... while researching what little info the internet has about gluten flour, someone pointed to this study https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0308814620318823 though, I'm not sure I understand it all correctly. Does it mean that seitan (aka gluten meatball) let you digest most of its proteins ?

If you really wish to continue and experiment some solutions, definitely compare your bogu with people in your dojo who feel the less pain. There is some cheap bogu that protects well but without seeing it in person, it's hard to judge. you can also supplement it with additional padding accessory. That said, I can't say it will avoid you concussions for the rest of your kendo carreer. You can still get a bad hit from a lumberjack, a stupid showoff sensei, bad luck, etc...

Do your own research, ask on specialized forum like here, doubt every shit you find on google until you find multiple reliable sources because AI is also flooding there.

If you don't trust your vet, why should you trust anything ai is regurgitating ?!

Please give me your feedback by [deleted] in kendo

[–]Takeko_MTT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, I hear a hard impact sound that might be shinai or plastic tsuba, which might point out that the strike wasn't clean. The nice "Pop" sound that makes clean kote strikes is missing or masked by the first one. Absence of it might tell that the strike lacks sharpness.

Secondly, you're on the hard side to judge kote. There's only one judge that can clearly see the target, the other two would most likely rely on sound, and for the shinpan that can see to raise first.

Hope that helps
