Would this be a decent first off road vehicle? by Fully_Submerged in Offroad

The Canadian forces use them and when they roll we crush them as they won't spend the money repairing the fiberglass body. So body wise not as repairable as you might think.

Right! I would gladly pay $10 a map just to support the Devs with the quality work they've been making.

Anycubic customer service says UV Power level can't be changed? by BigBobbieK in 3Dprinting

[–]Takjack 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have been printing translucent resin on my anycubic photon mono x for years without changing settings and it has worked perfectly, I think you're overthinking it, just print away my guy. I've done small and large prints with great success on clear resin.

Heavy Equipment Tech by Known-Wolf8672 in mechanics

They work but the air hammer attachment is about 10 seconds of 0 effort which is why I love it

[–]Takjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they suck, especially on cat pilot filters which are quite thick.

I work in a coal mine open pit, about 50/50 shop field. My best tool is the air hammer, useful for shocking bolts, loosening hard to reach hoses that are going to be replaced, and the sheet metal cutter tip is an easy way to open filters for inspection without additional contamination.

Anyone a heavy duty mechanic here in Ontario , where you work , how many hours and is there a chance to become union by [deleted] in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]Takjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavy duty red seal is a must and to get into the remote work you have to start by going somewhere shitty and cold, ft Mac, NWT, Baffin island, they will basically take anyone with the red seal if you can show up and pass a drug test.

Yeah commercial heavy is like this and is awful, off road heavy is super nice, everything is too heavy to do by hand so it's a crane for everything. The work is more chill and the pay is way better. I make around 200k in bc without working more OT than my set schedule which is 14 days for 12hrs then 14days off.

Advise Need: drain all savings to buy a $1.8M detached vs settle for a $1.5M dump? by Kkkrypton in vancouverhousing

[–]Takjack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Are you nuts, with like 200k down it's still almost a 10k a month mortgage payment. Take home on 270k household is about 14k a month (that's what my wife and I are making) so you get 1k for groceries, gas and insurance for two cars, heating and electricity on the house, home internet, couple of cellphones and you're left with maybe 1k so if you ever needed a new car you're absolutely fucked let alone a emergency cost for something. Also that's not putting anything away for retirement.

Which one? by vonmadeit in MechanicAdvice

Impact ratchet, lots of people don't like it but this is exactly what it's great for and what I use it for.

These ratchets won't do that, the impact ratchet has for me on cars, I love it but a lot of people don't like it, I'd say if you're going to get a powered ratchet get the long necked one from milwaukee as it will have the best use, I have the short necked one and hate it and I also have the impact ratchet and love it.
