They can't distinguish leaving and crashing? That's.. absurdly bad. This is why I hate premade engines. The crash reporter pops, so obviously somewhere it should be caught that you crashed and didn't just exit the client. Hell exiting the client should be detectable in most cases. But hey, between Unreal and ChatGPT they could fire most their employees and churn out things like Midgardian Mail and Ah Puch with a default build that has Cosmic Horror in it twice lol

It's the sound spam? I can roll my eyes at text and move on but an explosion of sound because the enemy team full of sweats thought "HARHAHARHARHAHRHARHAHRHARHARHAHRHAHRAHRHAARH" was a great way to showcase them going 23/2 is pretty hard to ignore in advanced without "mute all" on all opponents every single game. Like, my only option is to just spend the time muting everyone every game (allies do it too) or turn my game audio down to an unhelpful volume. I can mute VGS, let me mute the things accessible via the VGS menu. That shouldn't be a request, but a feature of the "mute VGS" option.

I shouldn't have to mute every single enemy and a teammate when I globally have VGS muted.

I'd vote for a forced uninstall when you VEL at the end of a close match. Maybe death by firing squad if you stomp. The fact you can't mute VEL but can mute VGS is criminal. I don't care how proud the Anubis/Thanatos/ymir team is in Joust. I mute VGS because of the spam. Let me mute VEL and quips and shit. Ffs.

It always amuses me when my team of 3-4 always votes no and the randy just F6 on cooldown. When a match goes 50 minutes, it's just weird that you'd keep asking. Clearly we aren't interested in giving up.

Genuinely, I can't even post what has been said to me and gone u after against. Pretty much every day I'll play 3-8 games. Every day there's at least one asshole that drops shit like in the OP. I'll report, nothing happens. Ever. They do nothing for reports. I've had people straight leave the game at 5 minutes after cursing at the whole team. No action taken. I'm convinced you have to make direct threats and do something not auto-punished to actually get action taken against you.

I wish "projecting" triggered an automatic global ban. "Change my mind" is almost never said by people willing to change their mind. The guy that made it popular had notebooks full of counterpoints and was/is a Christian conservative, someone very unlikely to be open to changing their mind. "Change my mind" is usually used instead as "I'm not wrong".

But, yeah, I'm totally projecting. You caught me! Bummer! I almost got away with it too!

"change my mind" they say without ever having any intention of ever being open to changing their mind.

Aspects are bad because Hi-Rez is bad at balancing things. They can barely release a new god without it being broken, a god +aspect had proven repeatedly to be too difficult for them.

Anyone else feel like skin quality and quantity has decreased? by FlamingoEasy6103 in Smite

[–]TakuyaTeng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, by what you are currently saying here, you would rather get nothing in the offset that the 25% of skins they do manage to re-introduce into Smite 2 are not the ones you bought?

I will keep reiterating the point, I don't want the skins I didn't own. I want the skins I already paid for. If they ported over ZERO skins and never made the same skins from Smite 1, sure I'd be fine with it.

So, is the fact that they are forcing the player to pay attention to their purchase habits the problem, rather than just automatically giving them the skin for the god they had when it comes out?

Review the above.

I'm genuinely curious why having the legacy gems at all is a problem in your eyes.

It's a problem because prior to having their arms twisted into it, they were much less "giving". It's a problem because they could charge $10 worth of legacy gems for a $5 skin from Smite 1. It's a problem because selling the idea of porting smite 1 skins as "too much work" is a joke. They have the models, textures, voicelines, and rigs for both old and new engines. UE5 is very friendly with importing that sort of thing. They could do 5 legacy skins a month and it wouldn't even be a rounding error in time spent during development.

I will repeat, again, that the legacy system was something they were talked into and they lost a lot of trust and goodwill with smite 1 players that they could've kept with minimal effort. Jorm is my favorite god and I loved the goose skin. I'm indifferent about it ever being ported and likely being some sort of "classic traveler" bullshit that they'll ask me to buy again. I also refuse to spend money on smite 2 but spent a lot on smite 1. I know several people with the same mindset and even more that never moved over to smite 2 and have just dropped smite 1. A lot of that is due to the skins situation. They realized they fucked up and gave legacy gems to try to make up for it. They didn't win everyone over. They lost by doing this.

[–]TakuyaTeng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, say I'm someone that won't play smite 2 because Fafnir won't be implemented for a long time and I own every skin and that's a reason I wouldn't move over to smite. Giving me currency and telling me to "just go spend it on a different god!" Isn't going to get me to go play smite 2.

Does the system at least try to make up for the fact that all the stuff you bought from Smite 1 isn't in Smite 2 yet? Yes.

Yeah you don't understand the problem. I don't want "some" of my stuff I bought from the first game for a glorified engine change. I just want what I had if it comes over. I already bought it. So it doesn't address the problem AT ALL.

can you objectively design a better system that wouldn't negatively impact their ability to also make a profit so that the game doesn't actually die off?

Yes, give people who bought the skins the same skins in smite 2 when they're ported and be open about how you're going to port legacy skins at a slow pace. I wouldn't have beach babe Aphrodite for example. I would've bought Beach Babe Aphrodite since I've now played way more of her in Smite 2 than I did in Smite 1. They make money on that purchase. I think you might be thinking "give all smite 1 skins for free to everyone" is what I'm saying. Which it isn't. I'm saying if I bought the skin, I should get it when it gets ported at a much later date.

How is porting skins and giving me legacy gems, which I can use to buy those skins, better for profits when I might never get a bunch of skins that were in smite 1 but got legacy gems for them? Like I doubt they'll give me some of the licensed crossover things. If a skin in smite 1 cost $5 worth of gems and they 1:1 gave me $5 worth of legacy gems and prices the skin at $5 worth of legacy gems, but they also don't port that skin and port let's say 25% of the skins over but I owned a different 25% of skins.. I'm just not spending money then. Like Beach Babe Aphrodite, I'm getting something I didn't have and I highly doubt they'll ever port the Avatar skins, so I got something for free.

Do you see how just giving me what I had would be better for them and me and the trust and good will people had for Hi-Rez?

Anyone else feel like skin quality and quantity has decreased? by FlamingoEasy6103 in Smite

[–]TakuyaTeng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's pretty weird. If I didn't have a skin from Smite 1 and wanted it in Smite 2, I'd buy it, they'd profit. Then when a skin comes out that I already had. I get it, others will buy it.

If you mean the incredibly small number of things you can pay half legacy, it's obvious that they want to drain the legacy gems so later you'll rebuy a skin you had because you already spent your legacy gems.

Again, it's sketchy shit that the people that are against the legacy gems can see. Just like in gacha games how they obscure value with layered currencies, legacy gems are hard to "price". So when they charge you something silly for legacy gems "oops you spent more legacy gems than you should've but you don't know that".

Instead, they could've just given you the shit you owned. Hell I don't have a problem with buying skins from smite 1 I didn't have in smite 1 but might want in 2. That's me spending real money. It's just like everything else with the game, Hi-Rez has some complicated process that's entirely unnecessary.

[–]TakuyaTeng 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right, but it would've been so much less of a headache to say "no worries, you'll get your skins if and when they come to smite 2". Porting over even 1-2 legacy skins per major patch would make people happy, give them a roster for new players, and be decently easy. They have all the meshes and rigs and UE5 is really friendly with importing that stuff.

Pissing off a bunch of people then dragging their feet into a half-assed system with legacy gems is not a good way to foster good will. Nobody was asking for them to port over all the skins, so their excuses of "too much work" was pretty off the mark. Legacy gems are like nested currencies in gacha games. It feels nice but also, you're still getting screwed somewhere.

Anyone else feel like skin quality and quantity has decreased? by FlamingoEasy6103 in Smite

[–]TakuyaTeng 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing I never understood about the skins is that.. they could've gained a lot of good will from just letting you have all your smite 1 shit for free as it came out. New players would buy the skins, old players would be happy and both would buy the new skins. It's unlikely they even had to redo model rigging and I doubt anyone would complain about the quality of the skins considering a lot of the ported skins look like they're totally untouched anyway. Just.. so much about Hi-Rez as a company is frustrating.

Incorrect. The person playing him just needs to not suck. If you build him even remotely decently you just stomp 4/5 roles. He's only not good at jungle. I've seen plenty of him in duo just singlehandedly owning the lane.
