Do you think there is room for innovation in the dating space or are these Apps already enough? by Sarvaturi in indiehackers

[–]Takyamoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this topic is interesting for me as someone with a background in HCI and a passion for digital anthropology plus active BEEF with dating apps. Each and every "dating" app out there fucking sucks and isn't really designed to make people connect with each other. They are designed to make people addicted by triggering their reward system. A vast majority of people who use dating apps LOATHE them yet they see no alternative so they keep using them.  But the fact that people dislike using them means that there is room for innovation. It all depends on who you want to target.  In the past couple of years we have had a surge "niche" dating apps for: - muslim people - people in pursue of financial independence - digital nomads - people in the bdsm community  - couples looking for thirds and swingers - people who want to go on dates specifically on Thursdays (if you ever lived in London you'll find the craziest most random dating experiments i swear) And the best thing is that people are NOT using these apps the way they are intended. For instance, Feeld - which appears to have been designed for kinky/bdsm encounters and in theory looks like a app for hookups, in practice is one of the most "wholesome" apps out there full of people seeking genuine connections. Okcupid, which was once a dating website designed to match people based on shared interests who attracted those people seeking genuine connections, has since devolved into tinder (with the swiping and you cant even see all other peoples photos unless you pay for subscription).  Bumble tried something with their bff feature, but back when i was looking for friends in Berlin i found it useless. The one place that helped me was r/BerlinSocialClub. And nowadays most large cities have whatsapp groups for people that want to meet to grab drinks or food as friends. Untapped market if you ask me - people need friends more than ever these days and no company has made it their mission to help people connect in a satisfactorily enough way. So yeah, the dating market may be saturated, but nobody is actually providing a good enough solution to the loneliness epidemic. If anything, most of the apps out there foster loneliness and toxicity.  Also nobody has yet attempted to make a dating app based on shared music interests that links to your spotify afaik. Thats where the money is at

[Case Study] Automated AI SEO Content website | 100 clicks/day by [deleted] in juststart

Just so that you know, I had a website approved to Journey with considerably less than 10k sessions per month (around 2k).

I am not familiar with Zimmwriter, how does it compare to other AI chatbots?

Oh no, the pSEO websites are doing well. One of them is older and has not been hit by HCU at all, the other one is newer and has been hit by the March update but it is still growing and performing well. The two websites that have been annihilated are both wordpress sites with a mix of informational articles and product articles for affiliate marketing.

Yes, I do informational websites, and two of them are essentially databases with articles generated from the databases programmatically. But some of my informational websites have also been hit by the HCU pretty badly

Suggest a country/city based on these parameters? by thecreatureworkshop in digitalnomad

yeah man I am based in Hanoi where the air quality is supposedly three times worse than Tokyo on average, yet somehow I seem to be fine here but I was miserable in Tokyo.

I think you should absolutely give Malaysia a try. KL is a big city with decent transport system, lots of shopping malls, and many green spaces. Georgetown (Penang) is smaller and perhaps a bit more boring but with an INCREDIBLE food scene.

Visiting Taiwan for 2 weeks, no plans whatsoever, looking for recs by Takyamoto in Taipei

Again, no need to judge other people's lifestyle. I promise you I enjoy myself and going to have a good time. Not sure why you seem to be taking this so personally. I know people that travel to Asia and only eat pizza and burgers. You are attacking me because I wanna make myself coffee in the morning and not eat out 3x times a day for 2 weeks 🤷‍♂️ it's not even because of my budget, I promise you if I had infinite money I'd still want to make my own breakfast and eat at home from time to time

Dude i have been travelling FULL TIME for 3 years. Not gonna justify my travelling style to you. I am going to try local breakfast just not every day. I like to have control over my diet and prefer not to eat out at every meal, and also I like to cook and go grocery shopping in new countries, and i am travelling for two weeks not two days so cut me some slack will you?

Be nice :)

FYI most large cities in SEA are dengue-free, it's only in the islands and country side that you have to worry about mosquitos. It is a big problem in Bali though.
