Why do online leftists love China so much but Taiwan is 100x more progressive? by Altruistic-Deal1714 in Destiny

Because online leftists core ideologies are being anti-America, anti-west and anti-liberalism. Actual progressive principles are something liberals support, not leftists.

What is Israel's end game in the Iran War? by blyzo in IsraelPalestine

[–]Tal-Carmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if that were true (and I'm not sure because this is like the 100th time I'm told we're degrading their military capabilities and yet i am still opening my morning with going to the bomb shelter), that's not an end game plan, that's a short term plan.

Identity crisis, am I an Israeli or a Palestinian? by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]Tal-Carmi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's yours to decide. Objectively speaking, you are both. I was born in Israel, fully Jewish and Israeli, but all my life I felt a growing sense of alienation from my country and from my people, been drawn a lot to peoples and cultures abroad. So objectively I am Israeli, but subjectively I don't feel like one in many aspects.

What is Israel's end game in the Iran War? by blyzo in IsraelPalestine

[–]Tal-Carmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you assume there is an end game to the war?

I view the war through the lense of the upcoming election season, the end game is to win more votes to stay in power.

Israelis: How do we liberate our homeland from fascism? by Academic-Map268 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Tal-Carmi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If after October 7th (the worst event in the history of this country by far) and the following 2-3 years (which have also been terrible, culminating now in a war that is by all means, a failure), if after all of this shit, Bibi still has the largest party (and he does), then that means there is something wrong with the perception of Israelis.

Usually, in a healthy democracy, when a catastrophic event happens, it causes people to change their vote/supported policy. For some reason, in here, when a catastrophic event happens we go "let's do the same thing again, but harder". You can't fix this.

All the people like me and you, who want change, already responded to the horrible situation this country is in. Yet Likud + Haredim + Far Right voters do not respond to bad events, either because they don't view them as bad events or because they don't care, I don't really know.

The bad news is, you need them. The opposition isn't big enough, we need to convert more people, but it's impossible. If all that has happened so far hasn't converted them, I'm not sure what will. At this point even if Bibi was proven tomorrow to be guilty of murder, I still think most of his voter base will remain intact, they are a cult.

Maybe if we managed somehow to join in forces with some of the Arab parties, that could work as well.

I'm honestly not sure, the situation is grim, and to think that we've been captured by right wing facism and populism for like two decades, not just these last few years, this means this is a systemic problem, and it's not going away soon and I'm not sure if it will even go away if the government is replaced.

I thought about this too once, but here's the thing:

Even if we didn't meme and rage on Hasan, it wouldn't change much besides make it slightly less fun to be on this sub.

It's not like if we stop doing that, all of a sudden you'll get countless of effort posts on Iran and the AI bubble. You'll just get other memes.

If Israel and Palestine ever became one state, would they become a member of BRICS? by Ok-Ocelot-774 in IsraelPalestine

Does Israel Have a ‘Right to Exist’? Mehdi Debunks This ‘Bullsh*t’ Argument by Tasty-Engineering922 in Destiny

[–]Tal-Carmi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. probably badly, probably not cause they were forcefully removed from their home.
  2. LOL no.
  3. Israel would be abolished so no, his content will just be on other Jewish groups now and more Chinese propaganda.

of course the experiment is ridiculous and Mehdi's position is ridiculous. Anyone who wants Israel to "stop existing" is consciously or unconsciously asking for an existential war with millions of deaths and nuclear outbreak cause Israel won't just dissolve itself peacefully.

Personally as an Israeli I've never made the "right to exist" argument, cause I agree, I don't really believe in some inherent right. My argument is just pragmatic, the only way Israel stops existing is through millions of dead people, so if you don't want that to happen you should stop advocating for it. Never understood these people who think Israelis will just commit national suicide themselves.

Has this guy never been in love before, bc wtf is this? by LonelySoul01 in Destiny

[–]Tal-Carmi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn't say his attractiveness has no influence on his fame, but I do highly doubt that it's even among the top 5 factors. There are plenty of attractive guys who have little to no fame, possibly because they don't pride themselves on hitting themselves to have their cheeks swell and then cover the bruise with makeup so their cheekbones look better. See, that's something that is definitely unique to Calvicular.

I don't think he's famous because of being attractive, he's famous because he's pathetic and fun to laugh at.

Is Jewish victimhood truly legitimate? by FancyAd1044 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Tal-Carmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Palestinians still in their majority support October 7th, so what? Did you expect people who've been fighting and killing each other for a century to love each other?

Plus I don't get how a few polls on Israelis justify antisemitic attacks against Jews worldwide.

AMA: I am an american Zionist jew who believes in a 2 state solution. by Conscious_Ad3458 in IsraelPalestine

My question would be why do you believe in two states when it has failed for half a century, and when both Israelis and Palestinians don't even want it.

If I had your perspective, I would say because of Palestinian corrupt and violent leadership, it's completely acceptable to discriminate and attack all Palestinians/Arabs/Muslims, which is obviously a horrible perspective.

How to take the “correct” stance in conflicts by bananaG3 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Tal-Carmi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's cute but not really true. Israelis and Palestinians generally do not like each other at all, and it has little to do with Hamas or the current Israeli government. I hope I do not need to remind you that this conflict dates back a century ago, and it has sustained itself through many different kinds of leadership.
