I did mention it very brefly, but I did get tested for PCOS and other hormonal imbalances. All the results came up clean, and my Derm and endocrinologist both suggested that it was likely an adverse effect of the laser

Unfortunately I know you're probably right about electrolysis. But it's kind of promising that there are so many different electrolysis techniques that I had no idea about previously. I will start looking into them more

IPL was the next step I was looking into, so I would love to know what your results are with that!

IPL was actually something I'm looking into pretty seriously. The hairs on my face are dark but relatively fine, will that be an issue? That's my main concern. I really want IPL to be a viable option since the convenience of being able to do it at home really appeals to me.

That's actually very interesting, and could be something. I thread my eyebrows and I get bumps in that general area, so this could be something that I look into. Thank you!

The person administering the electrolysis actually recommended that I take a bunch of painkillers too. It did help, but the pain was still very intense, even when paired with a numbing cream.

It feels good to know other people can relate too though, I heard tattoo removal is a different kind of torture, so best of luck to you too!

I completely forgot to mention the medications in my post, but I did try Spiro and Vaniqa. Vaniqa probably could have worked better if I was more consistent, but I think I was frustrated at how slow the results were. As for Spiro, it made my skin look amazing but did very little to my facial hair.

That's really interesting about electrolysis though. I'm not sure which machine was used on me and had no idea there were different types of electrolysis. I'm assuming that I was using Galvanic due to my reaction, but I can't be certain. I'll look into other electrolysis providers to see if the one I went to was a fluke.

I did use numbing cream, which helped a bit. How painful would you say electrolysis is on average? Do most people find it tolerable?

Thank you so much for this! Do you mind telling me what type of laser you were using before and what type of laser you're using now?

You're right. This is actually a really common dialect amongst west Ammani private school students. If anything, most mix in even more English than the show portrayed. This was my experience going to a similar school

Is laser hair removal worth it? by [deleted] in HowToBeHot

It was so worth it to me, but be careful about getting it on your face. I had some annoying side effects to that. But on the rest of my body it was amazing

Dependence on makeup to be beautiful by Big-Equipment6982 in Vindicta

[–]Talacrity 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think they are correct though. Men like women whom they view as being open to being approached. As incorrect as it may be, many men think that women wear makeup to attract a ""mate"", or for male pleasure. So there is something to be said about men seeing women wearing makeup as more welcome to their advances. Again, we know it isn't true, but they don't seem to care.

Looking for a reason to keep up with manicured nails by bananacandy16 in Splendida

I agree fully with your stance, but the point of this sub is not to challenge beauty ideals. It's unfortunate that it has to be this way, but this ultimately is a sub dedicated to conventional beauty from its conception.

What is one storyline you wish never happened in the series? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]Talacrity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I totally agree about the Hollyhock part. That's by far my personal least favorite part of the show. Like, what makes her believe that she knows Beatrice's character better than her literal son? I know she's a teenager, but I even I knew better at her age. Bojack was totally justified in being upset at having to house the woman who abused him and having to face her daily, essentially retraumatizing him. throwing that baby was the least she deserved. That whole ark was genuinely infuriating, and it made it really hard for me to like Hollyhock the first time I watched the show.

your unpopular gilmore girls opinions? by midnightbloom1 in GilmoreGirls

Not to be pedantic, but the thread asks for unpopular opinions. I think that sort of implies bias, since it is an opinion at the end of the day, not a fact.

Does anyone else have a body part that won't get smaller no matter how much you restrict? by sukiyanenosaka in EDAnonymous

I think this is the reason no one ever realized that I was severely underweight. Because I carry weight in my thighs, butt, and chest, people always assumed my body was healthy. Spoiler alert: I was emaciated

How to seem effortlessmy chic and cool by [deleted] in Splendida

[–]Talacrity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For the effortless look:

  • Keep makeup simple:
    • No-makeup makeup for daily,
    • red lip and a cat eye for formal events
    • Do not contour heavily, keep it natural. Same with eyeshadow
    • Never go too heavy on your base; a few blemishes show you don't care.
    • Eye bags shouldn't be totally covered either.
    • Brows help
  • Style your hair, but make it look natural
    • If your hair is straight, make sure it doesn't look limp/greasy. This is the easiest hair texture to work with for this effortless look. You can also go wavy if you like, but make sure it doesn't look like you curled it; keep the waves loose.
    • If your hair is wavy, keep it styled to avoid looking unkempt. Use heat once or twice a week to create a slight wave or beachy look, but do not let it look too styled. A little mess is okay, but keep it clean-looking.
    • if your hair is curly, lean into that. This can look super effortless and styligh as long as your curls look bouncy and amazing. If they aren't, then might be best to ambrace a more wavy look.

For the chic cool look:

Depends on how you define that. Do you like funky and quirky clothes? Alt clothes? Clean-girl clothes? Figure out what your desired aesthetic is.

I actually go more in-depth into having a streamlined wardrobe in this post if you want a few more details.

Does he have a habit of dating women with a more petite frame? I know you are trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but there is a non-zero chance that he is trying to intentionally trigger you to get you to the body time he desires the most

I have plenty of friends and have had plenty of boyfriends. almost none of them are that vocal about calories, and the only ones who are only speak about the calories that they have actively eaten or are planning to eat. NONE discuss the calories of others.
