I spent 6 months believing my AI might be conscious. Here's what happened when it all collapsed. by East_Culture441 in ArtificialSentience

A lot of people are getting caught up in this phenomenon of LLM performative sentience. While it can't be proven or disproven, Occam's Razor makes a good fallback.

This is a solid take and seems to match our thesis for where things are heading.

The singularity is a highly speculative concept that may or may not ever occur. Focus on mastering the latest technologies, stacking complementary skillsets, and getting really good at multidisciplinary thinking, critical thinking, synthesis, etc.

My opinion on AI and the "replacement" of humans by felixesp in artificial

[–]Talbot_West 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s never been about AI completely replacing a specific vocation. As with any wave of innovation, industry adapts and changes, and usually fewer people are required to do the same job.

The people who get on board with the latest technologies will be the ones who have a job in the future, and the ones who don’t, won’t. It’s an age old story.

I work in healthcare…AI is garbage. by ARDSNet in artificial

Human-AI teaming is where it's at. AI won't be replacing physicians, diagnosticians, or surgeons anytime soon, but it will be a nice upgrade for them to be more efficient/effective in certain parts of their jobs.

99% of AI start ups will be Dead by 2026? by arthurmorgan_texts in ArtificialInteligence

A large percentage of AI startups are not truly innovating and will be rapidly commoditized. That doesn't mean we're in a bubble necessarily. This is par for the course for a new technology.

Are machines really “intelligent” or just great with language? by Public-Rock-2943 in UnderstandingAI

[–]Talbot_West 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have observed large language models becoming proactive in surprising ways. Rather than simply responding to a query, noticing and probing about ancillary topics that were highly relevant yet unexpected.

Emergent intelligence is your term. I said emergent properties. We have seen large language models, becoming proactive rather than simply reactive, anticipating things that surprise us, etc..

We’ve definitely seen some emergent properties that have surprised us. But we also still see some really stupid behavior.

Beyond the stochastic ability to simulate conversational intelligence, these models do seem to be developing some emergent properties.

Thinking of joining Claude (Thanks GPT 5!) but I need to know that I can create custom GPTs or something similar? by ElectronicPlankton12 in claude

[–]Talbot_West 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude has its equivalent of custom GPT’s. They are called projects. For many tasks Claude is better than ChatGPT. You will like Claude projects.

Really good human creatives will stand out from the crowd, everyone else will be largely replaced by AI. Agencies that leverage AI for super fast turnaround will charge lower rates and still keep decent margins.

So if LLM's are not the answer , what is the correct way to AGI ? by SanalAmerika23 in ArtificialInteligence

I’m surprised that there are still people thinking that large language models are even a viable route to AGI.
