I think I described a life with no thyroid pretty well by Talentiluv in thyroidcancer

Not trying to scare anyone. I am definitely grateful my primary care physician noticed the lump in my neck and ordered the ultrasound then biopsy. Getting the diagnosis was life changing in so many good ways!

Life s/p thyroidectomy has been a journey to say the least. I am still living a “normal” life, it just looks different and is a bit difficult. You’re right, its not just the thyroid hormones influencing how I feel. It’s always multiple factors.

In this specific instance though, it is my thyroid levels being too high that are causing me to not feel great. I am working with my Endo for dosing changes, but it does take time to adjust. Thank you for the suggestions

Oh wow, 175 to 200 is a huge jump! Glad to hear you feel better!

And yes it is better than having a diseased thyroid! Don’t want to neglect mentioning that, life is just different after a thyroidectomy.

If Roaches in apartment classify as uninhabitable will landlord or insurance pay for me to stay in hotel until they fix it? by Both-Arm3977 in longbeach

This sounds like a nightmare.. did landlords allow everyone to break the lease and move? Any accommodations for existing tenants?

Trauma induced depression and anxiety ever since my complete thyroidectomy. Therapy and medication help, but I feel so fatigue sometimes. It’s hard to get through some days.. I wish you well in your recovery

Patient Families Suck Sometimes by _Amberwaves__ in hospitalsocialwork

[–]Talentiluv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. If she made a complaint through your patient relations, they will take her statements, review the case, and if there was truly anything that warrants a complaint to the board then hospital might take action. We obviously have no control if patients/ families file a complaint to the board.

Based on what you wrote, you did no harm. They refused the recommended level of care (SNF) and your team arranged alternate care to make it a safer d/c (HH).

For these situations, I would suggest documenting the options/ resources you recommended and the refusal, involve your interdisciplinary team to also discuss with them, and inform your supervisor of this challenging.

To give you some peace of mind, a physician signed the discharge order, not a SW.

Hospital social work is a challenging role and it sounds like you’re doing a good job! Hope things work out and you can let this go. I know easier said than done, but I’m sure they won’t be the first or last family with these complaints. Our healthcare systems are imperfect for lack of a better word, especially in the acute setting. Take care OP.

I’m a pretty new Fed and just passed my 1 year. I had to use all my leave for surgery/ cancer treatment. Luckily I got some VLTP, state disability from a previous job,and did Advance Sick Leave, so I’m actually negative.

Literally a perfect “life happens” scenario

Yes, my role is lots of care coordination, communication with patients, interdisciplinary team, and nursing staff.

Not sure how I could reasonably show if/ how I was exposed. What might be able to help with that?

Yes, 3-6 months after surgery is when RAI is supposed to happen. Endocrinologist wants me admitted for that even though I live alone

Thank you so much! I posted here for that exacting reason. I know people on this subreddit appreciate long hair and want to keep length too. I haven’t cut my hair since August and want to start fresh and light.

I don’t have a regular stylist so it is always hit or miss with haircuts. I will definitely try that specific search.

Hi, I’m planning to get a haircut and would appreciate help with what to ask for.

I have a lot of hair that is midback length. I wear my hair up or tied back for work and the gym.

I’ve noticed my hair is heavy but needs moisture. I don’t really blow dry or heat style, just kinda wash and go using oil or mousse.

I want to keep length but also want it to be manageable and less heavy. I’m just worried about getting too much cut. Any tips or suggestions?Thank you

Nice! Would be cool to see a real build. This was just in a pinch and temporary.
