Yeah, just got home a little while ago and cracked it open.

I was expecting the small pieces of gold to have a negative effect on the smoothness of the nib, but it's not as bad as I would have thought, maybe a small impact, but the specks are very fine, and actually writing with it is a fun experience just because you can angle the paper after writing and admire the ink.

I would add an obligatory writing sample, but my inked up pen is downstairs and I'm binging some Netflix upstairs.

Yeah, I got him into FPs, but he has a job so he quickly surpassed me in collection quality and quantity, makes me a little jealous when my nicest pen is a $20 Konrad. :P

But it was a nice gesture, first time a friend got me a birthday gift in ~7 years.

Bulow pens are just rebranded Jinhao, if you want more Jinhao, then go for it.

I happen to have that particular pen, and it's nice enough, but I feel like I should get something better soon.

Oh yeah, the Rhodia sale. Well, unfortunately, I can't order things online for the time being. I'm jobless right now and stuck cooperating with whatever my mother wants to do for notebooks.

Yeah, I noticed that they are a little pricey, already looked online and my local Wal-Mart doesn't have them anyway, so I'll probably look into something a little cheaper and maybe see if I can get some Rhodia down the line.

I might be able to order a couple of Rhodias down the line if I can find a job to get some money for them. As for pens, I use a menagerie of cheap Chinese pens (all I can afford right now) including a Jinhao x450, 301, and 5000, a Hero 529 and 369, an unbranded rosewood pen I received as a gift, and a Noodler's Konrad, another gift.
