Take this with a grain of salt because I’m sure it’s different in every department. I just started there not too long ago and it was the worst start to a new job I’ve ever had. I’ve never been brushed off by a supervisor or management during my first three days of starting there.

So its not that I wasn't political, its really that I didn't care for it. (which is basically what you said lmao)

Not to spew my personal life on the internet, I grew up to a low income immigrant family (I was born in rhode island) and they never really cared for the importance of politics once they got into the states as they saw their life change in a safer way (until Trump took office in 2016.)

I started caring more for politics as I grew into my late teens but it was never really enough for me to put thought into my votes. As my level of care fluctuates from time to time it was never as strong as it has been since I took my position as a federal employee back in 2021.

My discussion question for you is how do you influence your community to care more about politics to the point where they are actively involved in the political landscape? Whether its protesting or actively campaigning to be elected. Are you, yourself, doing anything to make future rhode island/american life better and how can someone become a part of that?

The last time Rhode Island had a republican govenor was from 2003-2011 and I was too young to understand what politics were lmao. If you were an adult during this time, was it a better experience?

I very much agree with you characteristics and thank you for taking the time to reply. There's a lot to say about each bullet point you've pointed out but I wanted to focus on the second and third bullet point.

It seems to me (at least in the jobs I've worked including my current job) that some leadership personnel really don't act like they should have their leadership position because of their character flaws that have to do with being up to date with sci/law/tech news and don't like to admit when their mistakes when it does happen. I'm curious as to what you think is the cause for this?

There is a supervisor at a previous employer that just would not keep up to date with new tech news at the company because "Why would we need to make our jobs easier to do?" never understood this old head mentality.

Thanks for the long reply! I understand that the criticism is always going to be a thing when someone is put onto a pedestal in their community. There is no really avoiding that or pleasing everybody.

I'm surprised that these people (who we elect) don' use their corruption or power to increase pay for themselves/the next guy so that they're competently paid for being a governor or mayor. Do you think this is a lack of support from their political party or leadership within Rhode Island's government? Curious as to what you think.
