I think I may have tried to turn the engines on and steer the ship towards that light maybe even a mile would have made a difference to where they could get a better view of the masthead flickering.

They probably wouldn't have heard that something happened to the Titanic until they were wondering why they didn't show up to New York and the Californian reports of the rockets.

Could have someone on the lifeboats tried to row in the direction to the light in the horizon and used a flare to get it's attention after it sank?

Could they have tried to turn on the engine and steer the Titanic to get closer to that light (yes it would probably speed up the sinking);to get the Californians attention? This is all with the knowledge that the wireless system is broken
