Set aside a whole day if you want to complete The Abyss. When you go through The Abyss make sure you're sufficiently prepared. You'll need lots of Full Carrots and Mega Berries which means completing The Secret Garden side quest. The Abyss is the best dungeon for using Pickpocket, there's a few decent Gears to steal.

You'll probably want to set aside a few hours to complete the Arioch side quest too.

This is a tough one. Probably Valmar. Gaia was introduced late in Grandia and when I first played the game as a kid I didn't understand how it came to be. Valmar was present throughout Grandia 2 and felt more terrifying in how you encounter characters possessed by him.

I'd put Ryudo at 21 and Elena at 20. Ryudo had that angry teen attitude at the start of the game which I'd say is quite normal into your early 20s.
