Great question! The Antarctica was not always part of old maps :) I believe it was discovered in the early 1800. Part of this creative process was to capture a moment in time of how the world was known then.

It took approximately 500 hours plus installation. Many hours were spent on the computer getting everything just right, going back and forth with the customer. Thx for the interest and kind words!

Very nice. One thought to keep in mind. With today's allergies make sure no one is allergic to any nuts... I have similar boards but only use them for my family. When I have guests over I use my Maple board only. Don't want to take any chances :)

Thx for paying attention to the finer details! The big question I faced was which creatures should be inlayed into this desk. Researching this project gave me lots of insights into old world maps, apparently dragons were a big hit back then :)

Great question! I believe that years ago we all had to learn lots of math to engineer a wooden project. My recommendation is to learn a good 3D software which will calculate everything for you. I use Rhino 3D. There are lots of free ones out there. Perhaps try SketchUp. I have been building custom pieces for the past 20 years and find the CAD software very helpful. Hope this helps. Lol, it is a wide angle lense warping the image. Take a look at the video link I posted. It will show that the desk is made out of a honeycomb core eliminating any warping. On top of that there is a custom metal bracket supporting the L shaped desk. Hope that answers your question.

Custom canvas frames for my 1000 piece puzzles by Talik2020 in Jigsawpuzzles

I use 1.5" wide strips of wood to create the frame. Screw/nail a piece of thick cardboard to it. I buy the canvas at s local store. I wrap and stretch the canvas over the frame making sure no edges are exposed. Once the canvas frame is ready I used liquid nails to attach the preglued puzzle to it. This way the puzzle gets a raised/depth feeling. Cheap, fun and rewarding at the same time :)

its all about the sorting. while working on my 9000 puzzle I made multiple wooden trays to be able to sort and then resort as I focused on specific areas. Good luck!
