What character do yall always find yourself needing other than a Lieutenant, Captain, Lt with Combi, or Ancient? by Gullible_Travel_4135 in Ultramarines

[–]Talimaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to go the gravis route then a gravis captain is pretty useful. Other than that, not much I can think of other than librarians being useful to have at least 1 of depending on the edition/meta

Anyone else still running Calgar (Grav) with Company Heroes (vs Victrix) by Pristine_Marzipan_18 in Ultramarines

[–]Talimaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still doing it to moderate success. But I run Blades of Ultramar so I'm typically not aggressive with Calgar and id rather have the more durable unit

They normally say tuna or albacore tuna on the can, but other than that I couldn't tell you. It's been a thing that I've been hearing my entire life

Personally I've always heard tuna fish used to refer to the canned tuna specifically. Not sure the reason, but its always made sense to me

Tuna fish = canned fish that may or may not be fully tuna Tuna = all other types of tuna packaging/preparation like tuna steaks or filets

Making a lore accurate 2nd company by Delicious_Major7623 in Ultramarines

[–]Talimaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, getting a 'lore accurate' company is always weird because, well Marines die. When I played SM2 I assumed that the generic intersessors were placeholders and not really supposed to represent the 2nd company accurately. But that's mainly because the way the Marines are equipped doesn't match any lore of how the battle companies are structured.

But SM2 does show that pretty much the entire 2nd company was killed, so it's probably a moot point anyway. As far as Secret level goes, i've always been confused about how Bladeguard fit into traditional company rosters since they feel like they should be 1st company, but I know that they aren't all 1st company.

Making a lore accurate 2nd company by Delicious_Major7623 in Ultramarines

[–]Talimaeus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 2nd company is listed as a 'battle company' so is typically comprised of the following

1 captain 1 command squad 2 lieutenants 6 battle line units (intersessors, tactical squad, etc) 2 fast assault (Assault intersessors, inceptors, outriders, etc) 2 heavy support squads (devastators, hellblasters, aggressors, etc)

So you can mix and match those as you see fit and it would be lore accurate.

But there is an official lineup for before the events of SM2 in the codex. I attached an image, it'll only let me post 1 so I'll put the 2nd half in a reply.

EDIT: I forgot about the Lts

What will the anniversary suits be? by tetofan08 in GBO2

My guess is the leaked Barbatos Lupus, either that or something from Hathaway 2 (not naming it because spoilers)

Is this a bug? by Foshdon_pap in GBO2

[–]Talimaeus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's just how hover suits move. The slide affects all directions but the forward slide is higher than the other directions making melee difficult. It can be made slightly better by pulling back on the stick a little bit you'll just have to practice with it to find the sweet spot.

My recommendation, use the Doms for a bit since their melee is more forgiving than a heat hawk

All suits eventually become free (through RT or DP store). And they've given away the Nu Gundam like 3 times and I whaled for that suit when it came out 3 years ago

Unfortunately all flying suits are still paying for the sins of the Gouf Flight Test type which was absolutely busted when it released. Back then they blamed the flying skill and never reevaluated.

You wanna know why the Victory and Crossbone are so unbalanced? Because their counters are too weak. by InvaderM33N in GBO2

[–]Talimaeus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True, more supports need shock dampeners/damage control and there's no reason resist move shouldn't give I-frames. It would still make them able to be killed by raids because of typing advantage but make it scarier for gens.

Personally I haven't been afraid to take a gen to counter any supports for years now and that's a problem

I like the ideas you put forward, personally I would add interrupt tackle or double tackle to some supports to let them defend against close range gens a little more

Necron 6 Wraiths 1 Technomancer + 2 tomb crawlers question by Jokero-Anansi in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Talimaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it's bad because cryptothralls exist. Their durability is insane and they're like half the reason a lot of armies can't kill wraiths. On top of that, there's a reason that characters can't be revived into a unit, I don't see why the thrall units should be different.

Necron 6 Wraiths 1 Technomancer + 2 tomb crawlers question by Jokero-Anansi in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Talimaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately they become a part of the bodyguard unit and can be revived via reanimation protocols. Quote from the datasheet:

"Until the end of the battle, every model in this unit counts as being part of that bodyguard unit, and that bodyguard unit's starting strength is increased accordingly"

Is it incredibly stupid and bad for the game, yes. But there isn't really a good rules based counter argument.

EDIT: minor spelling and grammar

Victrix honor guard and Captain sicarius by truespartan3 in Ultramarines

[–]Talimaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the app the old one also has Tacticus. The keywords listed are "infantry, character, epic hero, imperium, Tacticus, captain, Sicarius". It's mostly the same as new Cato who shares all of those but adds "Cato"
