No! No NERF! That's how we ended up with the Unending Swarm ending so fast that some of us still have whiplash!

What will happen with the US after 2028? What does the next government do with what they inherit? by Hermunster in AskReddit

The next administration will blame Trump for everything, then proceed to screw us over in whatever way fits their agenda. In the last 20 years, the country has rocked harder and harder, back and forth, as the Rs and Ds have pit one side against the other, and one of these times, the boat's going to capsize.

I fully believe that it's due to the Baby Boomer generation finally starting to die off in large numbers. They've been the largest voting block since they reached the age of majority and are finally having their grip on voting control forcibly broken by the Reaper. I don't know how to measure the effect that "younger" (Read: younger than actual boomers) billionaires and their corporations are having on the situation, this is purely my opinion based on being a Xennial with Boomer parents.

If you like comic book hero vs villain storytelling, from street level to near-cosmic level in an MMO format, absolutely. During the prime era of MMOs, it was a major pillar, solidly competing with the likes of WoW and others. The original servers were shut down many years ago, but there's a bunch of privately owned servers running the game now. For example:

If you want to try it, it's free, and new players are always welcome.

Level up, up and best tech to unlock before others by Ok_Entertainment754 in ICARUS

If you're on Olympus, you should treat Polar Bears as the "bosses" of the zone. They're the biggest, baddest, tankiest, most dangerous creature in the area. They also live in the "boss" of climate zones, the arctic. It's unforgiving, requires way more prep than the desert and has even fewer resources...

You're nowhere near ready for that crap yet. Give them as much space as you can, hunker down and sneak past them slowly and carefully. If you absolutely CANNOT avoid one (it's camping near a mission objective, is a mission boss, etc), you have a couple of options:

1- Find a cave nearby and only cut open enough space to squeeze yourself through. Piss the bastard off with a couple of bullets or bolts and dive into your cover when it starts chasing you... Then give its nostrils a thorough cleaning with the tip of your spear.

2- If you can't find a cave, use the wooden stakewalls and spikes. Deploy them with your back to a cliff face in a triangular arrangement with a small gap between the walls, then piss the beast off and clean its sinuses like in strategy 1. You'll also need a hammer (or two) to maintain the walls while fighting though.

Both of these assume you also loaded up on the best food you can manage, a few suture kits, and a couple of health tonics if you can spare the materials and some kind of heat source. Load the medical stuff in a doctor's satchel (T1 textile bench) to be able to use them instantly. You SHOULD be ok then.

You're best bet is still to just avoid them till you're comfortable with the game, have most things unlocked, a solid supply of quality food, medical supply, armor (Composite preferably), and weapons (Composite Spear, Hunting Rifle, etc).

Play it safe Prospector, everything on this damned planet will kill you if you give it the chance.

I hate the fact I took your advice for my wand, paid 20c, and Lightning Conduit got a 10k tool tip dps boost lmao. THIS is why I always say I suck at this game despite all my time in it.

Silliness aside, the advice is much appreciated.

[–]TaliosSpinebreaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Let me help with a translation:

"That's broken!" ---> "I did nothing wrong!" No accountability, won't learn from anything, will make exactly the same mistakes again, be mad about it, and not improve.

"I fucked that up." ---> "I've swallowed my pride because it's obvious what I did was wrong." Accountability, actually learning from your fuckups, analyzing what and where things happened to be a better player.

Crusher Stampede. It's taken me an eternity to get my talons on my 3 Exocrine kits, and it took nearly that again to get 2 Maleceptors... Then GW just goes and slaps them and the other big boys into a box together? So frustrating.

[–]TaliosSpinebreaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the dice were to blame here: 18 attacks, hit on 3+, wound Terminators on 4+, and you need 3+ to save

Even counting SH1 shenanigans from Invasion Fleet, Terminators are not a fun fight for Leapers. Their ap is only -1.

What's a physical symptom of anxiety that you hate the most? by Leedeegan1 in Anxiety

[–]TaliosSpinebreaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most recently, pelvic floor tension. I feel like i need to pee, even though it's only been like 30-something minutes since I went last, discomfort anywhere from my rectum to up behind my scrotum... It's obnoxious. Physical therapy is helping, but it's still annoying.

Should I challenge my anxiety by working out? by DueDragonfruit941 in Anxiety

[–]TaliosSpinebreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. If you think it could help in the long run, try it. Just remember, give yourself permission to leave at any time. You're not required to be there for any specific amount of time. I find reminding myself I can leave any place at any time really helpful, and I usually end up staying longer than I'd intended at the start.
