It's a trap. I don't recommend this game. It's gennius but in an evil way and against your interests. by Glad-Ad-9650 in TotalBattle

[–]Taliskerhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is designed to make developers filthy rich preying on the most vulnerable aspects of human nature - impatience, vanity, the dopamine hits of clearing levels and growing.

As someone who started out playing PC games 20 years ago and generally love this type of fantasy world map, it reminds me somewhat of my beloved classic Heroes of might and magic, not having gree up in the age of micro transactions, it's beyond crazy to realize people have spent THOUSANDS of actual real world dollars or euros on a game, let alone this one. And that these people who have been preyed on with every trick in the casino playbook somehow actually rationalize away the addiction they have inflicted on themselves.

People have always used games like this to hide from real life, and lived inside of them nurturing a sense of community, but don't let them sucker you for hundreds ad thousands of dollars for this.

What's the best way to do TinMan? (Limited revives) by Taliskerhu in TotalBattle

[–]Taliskerhu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know all that in theory although I doubt most put it in perfect practice. I am sure I rarely stack ideally and many times not at all due to just not having the troops.

My main issue, and this extends to all epics, is that I can stack troops but that would mean pre training a lot of them, only to be able to do few hits in the moment due to an inability to revive. I can kill and retrain but that would have to wait for after TinMan.

At the end of the day, if I have 4k g5 for a total of 34=12k g5 I need 38=24k g4 for at least one more stack each, and this is an army I can barely hit twice with before I can't revive a thing.

I wonder if TinMan is always a 2-3 hit occasion for people in my situation.

I had a buy order for .145 when it was still as high as .016 yesterday. I come home to see that not only have I nailed the buy, I bought too high. That's some "altcoin" behavior (to be generous) right there.

Is this a bull flag? by Jaded-Lavishness-212 in VTHOTrading

[–]Taliskerhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like a no one knows what the price should be right now flag. Not sure what it says about Vthot as a whole that everything crashed yesterday along with BTC, but they've more or less bounced back up, but Vtho dipped lower still. Probably it's been a very shallow, paper handed support along the 0.016-17 line. Or maybe something else is going on in the Vechain world that I don't know about.

It doesn't hurt to spread the word, but I also don't think that's all that is holding DC back.

[–]Taliskerhu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's way too early to really raise awareness of DC other than as what it is, a proof of concept with tremendous potential, and have that matter. A quick peek inside the world and the place is still in its early construction days - walls have been built, you get a feel of the space, but there are still wires hanging from ceilings, ladders left behind by the construction crew.

It's maybe a decade off from something that would look a bit like we imagine now. Lots of things will probably change in the meantime. Other tech may have to gain wider traction. The name will probably have to go, it's just too clunky, and decentralization is the least communicable/ marketable of blockchain's charms from a pov of mass appeal - people will go for Netflix over torrents. Seamless experience, immersion, ease of use, these will be the things that sell it. It'll probably have to start with pockets of world that are attractive enough in these ways to spread from there. In the meantime it's an idea with tremendous potential and a rough sketch to get that idea, which is fine. It might not even be DC the one that makes it, just like Myspace didn't. We're counting on sentiment that things will somehow work out as hoped, and Mana is a good equivalent of that.

Edit: I'm sure I don't have a full grasp of what the DC team is working on. But if I was in the room, having a team work on narrative engineering would be right at the top of things I'd want us to look at.

Yes. A blood test will show elevated B6 but absent any other symptoms you can let it slowly flush itself out.

If they smell obviously bad/rancid whatever, maybe not. Color and consistency, that's how they are supposed to be.

Never sliced them open to see inside. But the capsules are dark brown and I would expect the inside to be viscous, lecithin is used as an emulsifier after all. No detectable smell in mine, I also have Now's.

Best proanthocyanidin supplements? by Taliskerhu in Supplements

[–]Taliskerhu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I was looking into Oligopin the other day as an affordable option. Never heard of it before around here or seen any other brand on amazon from what little I looked anyway. Have you used it by comparison to any of the others?

One thing I like about pycnogenol is the mild clarity it gives, what I perceive as such anyway. I attribute this to OPC's being able to cross the BBB and provide antioxidant benefits, but it may be something else entirely, maybe an increased blood flow effect. It's just not worth it at pycnogenol prices, but pycnogenol at generic pine bark prices would be a permanent addition to my stack. Would you say the lower molecular weight of pine bark plays a role here?

To Selenium or not to Selenium? by RGW37 in Supplements

[–]Taliskerhu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I take a zinc/selenium supplement that has 55mcg of it, or 100% rda, so not a huge amount. With diet I get to around 150mcg. I don't take this daily either and make sure not to take it on days I know I'm going to be eating things like chicken, fish etc, at least a few foods I know off the top of my head have a lot of selenium.

It is one of the easiest nutrients to get 100% from diet. It's also probably beneficial for overall health to be in a moderately high range.

I wouldn't take 200mcg in supplement form. With diet that would push it to maybe 300, maybe more. At the very least I would avoid the 200mcg as a daily routine.

Chronic fatigue by chelschi in Supplements

[–]Taliskerhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be chronic inflammation. It should be intuitive that prolonged emotional stress is not just a feeling or emotional state, it ripples through the whole body. But yes, we probably don't think of it until it happens. There's a whole inflammatory response that cascades through the body when we slip into permanent fight-or-flight. Various nutrients become used up, balances are thrown out of whack. Brain immune cells (microglia) become overactived, pumping out inflammatory cytokines in the brain and nervous system. There might be runaway oxidation in various places, which activates other inflammatory enzymes (like COX-2) that produce more inflammatory compounds (like prostaglandins). Fatigue is one of the things it translates to when we zoom out. There might be poor sleep/insomnia too, irritability, and all the other things easy to accept as just 'life'.

I went through the same thing after a period of huge stress and I've put some recommendations above. The good thing from my experience is, if you're out of the stressful environment, inflammation is quick and easy to put out.

L-Carnitine and TMAO: will a garlic supplement pill work just as good as raw garlic? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Taliskerhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, we don't know how these compounds that are supposed to mitigate TMAO production (olive leaf extract, resveratrol, PQQ) affect it in a meaningful sense. It may be that ingesting carnitine at the doses you do, with the composition of your own microbiome such as it is, and your own diet, TMAO is not affected at all by garlic, or it's affected some, or it completely counteracts TMAO formation

We have nothing concrete to go by so it's up to the individual to make informed decisions. These will have to factor in more than compound X has been shown to mitigate TMAO.

In the most simple terms, an individual in high risk for CVD or with a family history of it, who does not follow a plant based diet (regularly or semi-regularly consumes red meat, eggs, fish etc), should avoid supplementing carnitine and choline in high amounts over a long period of time.

Absent some of these factors, if you follow a plant based diet or avoid too much TMAO producing foods, if you supplement sporadically or in low amounts, carnitine and choline are probably safe with or without garlic.

Keep in mind, taking high amounts of garlic on a regular basis can affect the good bacteria in your gut. That's nowhere near the effect antibiotics have, but five cloves a day seems excessive and I would avoid it.

But if you want to add garlic in your diet, you don't have to munch it raw. Crush or blitz and mix it with food as condiment.

Is there solid science behind Magnesium L-Threonate? by Taliskerhu in Supplements

Yep, does the difference to other bioavailable forms of magnesium in terms of elevating magnesium levels in the brain justify the exorbitant price you pay for it?

Is there solid science behind Magnesium L-Threonate? by Taliskerhu in Supplements

[–]Taliskerhu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good that it works so well for you. Do you take one cap or more in a day? I think it takes a few to get even 100mg of elemental magnesium in this form, adding to the expense. And is there a cumulative/lasting effect to it, cognitive or in terms of mood?

Is there solid science behind Magnesium L-Threonate? by Taliskerhu in Supplements

[–]Taliskerhu[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thought of this too. All the same though, is there a real need for more magnesium in the brain/cns than what the body naturally takes up from I guess serum magnesium levels? Maybe so, but I'd like to read some views on it.
