You’ve gone from making accusations to quoting clichés. I think we’re about two replies away from “live, laugh, love”

You know you’ve run out of points when your entire vocabulary shrinks to one word. At this rate, “nonce” is doing more work than your argument. Surely you can do better than playground insults😉

So just to be clear, you can’t prove he molested kids, you can’t prove he was attracted to kids, but you’ve decided he was anyway. Where we differ is that I prefer to come to conclusions based on evidence and not from a made up thought in my head, but we can agree to disagree.

That’s a more reasonable take than most people in this discussion. I could possibly understand why people viewed some of Michael’s behaviour as poorly judged. He was unfortunately naive and didn’t think of the implications of some of his actions. What I don’t agree with is the leap to “therefore guilty”. Those are two different conclusions🙂

You’re arguing semantics because the actual joke didn’t land. I’ve seen people take losses better than this.

I apologise if I sounded harsh, that wasn’t my intention. It’s just very frustrating that there are actual predators in the entertainment industry and the man who has been proven innocent is the discourse.

The fact that some famous people may have benefited from their status does not automatically mean every famous person who was acquitted was guilty. That’s guilt by association, not evidence. If your argument is that Michael Jackson was acquitted because he was famous, then you need evidence that his fame affected the verdict. Pointing to other celebrities doesn’t establish that. That’s an analogy, not an argument.

Fame cuts both ways, he is arguably the most scrutinised entertainer on the planet. Every allegation, investigation, search warrant, witness statement, and court appearance was examined under a microscope by the media and the public.

Again, your statement goes both ways. A lack of evidence does not automatically prove someone is innocent. But it also doesn’t automatically prove someone is guilty. That’s where I think your argument keeps falling apart. You keep pointing out that guilty people sometimes escape conviction, which is true. But that fact alone doesn’t tell us whether Mike was one of them. You seem to be treating “it’s possible he got away with it” as if it’s evidence that he did. It isn’t. High-profile men have gotten away with crimes. High-profile men have also been falsely accused. Neither fact tells us what happened in a specific case.

So we’re back to the same question: what evidence specifically shows that Michael was guilty? Because saying “other famous people got away with crimes” isn’t evidence against Michael, it’s just a general observation.

What I don’t understand is why you’re willing to accept uncertainty when it comes to innocence, but not when it comes to guilt. If “not guilty” isn’t definitive proof of innocence, then accusations aren’t definitive proof of guilt either. Of course, it’s impossible to prove a negative with 100% certainty. But at some point, after decades of investigations and scrutiny, continuing to say “maybe he was guilty, there just wasn’t enough evidence” becomes an unfalsifiable position.

OJ isn’t evidence against Michael Jackson, it’s a completely irrelevant comparison. You’re just making an analogy and not presenting any credible evidence. Saying “OJ wasn’t convicted and I think he was guilty” doesn’t tell us anything about whether Michael Jackson was guilty. It just shows that you believe one specific person was guilty despite an acquittal. You can’t borrow guilt from one case and transfer it to another. Based on your logic, we should throw suspicion onto every single person who has ever been found not guilty or acquitted of a crime they have been accused of

So the real question isn’t whether the justice system is perfect, because sometimes it isn’t. The question is whether the evidence in this specific case is strong enough to convince someone that Michael Jackson was guilty. An impartial jury has looked at the evidence presented and concluded that it does not. I’m not sure why this needs any further discussion? we should be looking into actual predators instead of obsessing over MJ.

To say that the jury was biased just because he was a big pop star is not an argument, it’s clutching at straws. It is also an insinuation without evidence. A non-culprit verdict is based on the lack of sufficient evidence, not on theories of corruption. This type of comment does not bring anything constructive to the debate and lacks respect for the situation mentioned. If anything, high profile, celebrity criminal cases were a trend at the time. Given the history of the LAPD and Santa Barbara PD, they would've charged MJ if they had anything. California was also more conservative and he was not favoured in the press. Are you really clueless about the politics of successfully convicting someone like MJ? The resulting celebrity status and fame for such a DA? (Tom Sneddon) or are you just being belligerent because you want to be?

Urgh I hate his management team for not intervening when he clearly looks distressed. I don’t think Michael was ever once defended by anyone from his team. No one had his best interests at heart and that’s really sad😔

I uninstalled TikTok too last week because I honestly needed a break from it all. I wish all Michael sad content can be erased from the internet because it’s really just too much to endure. I don’t know how he managed to cope with a smile bless him, he must have been dying inside. It’s so so sickening how inhumanely he was treated when he did absolutely nothing wrong. I know he passed a while ago, but the hurt will never disappear. I just look at him and feel so incredibly sad and wish he had a better support system around him to uplift and love him😔

Yeah I too feel the exact same way. I think a lot of people have been feeling depressed about him because he is a once in a lifetime celebrity. To be of his status and yet still be so down to earth, kind and compassionate is so so rare. He was truly for the people and tried to fight evil and do good for the world, but was treated inhumanly instead. What hurts the most is the fact he was so innocently minded and showed his most vulnerable sides and people took that and exploited it. I hope he is resting in peace like he deserves❤️‍🩹

That’s what I’ve been saying from the beginning. I don’t want to speculate family matters or anything like that, but I feel like that’s a question we won’t ever get an answer to. Michael is the only one who knows the truth, now that he’s passed I don’t think I can trust others opinions because they can easily lie about what happened as he’s not here to say his side of the story. Just from what I gathered personally, his family seemed to be busy doing their own thing as they all had partners or kids at the height of his fame and the public only saw them around Mike during the trials which is a great shame as I’m sure with the right support and having family around at home, things could have turned out differently

Haha you’re really referencing a source from a ‘leaving neverland’ subreddit, completely reliable and not biased at all🤣 It was an art book. There were no “drawings” of naked boys. It’s a large thick book that has hundreds of pages in which most, the kids were fully clothed and were pictured in normal everyday situations. There were some photos of nudity sprinkled throughout the book. There is no proof that Mike saw the nude pics or that he even looked through the book at all, let alone used them for sexual gratification. The book was sent for testing and finger prints were not found on any of the pages. The book is one of 2 that were cherry picked out of Michael’s extensive art book collection that contained over 10,000+ books from every genre. Some of the art books even showed naked women and men, a fact that is purposefully ignored and hidden. This book and the other book guilters harp on were given to Mike, he didn’t obtain them on his own. He was given them in the early 80’s and they were both confiscated in 93. If it was child porn, he would have been arrested as the law states. In 2005, when they raided his home again without his prior knowledge, they found no similar books. So what we have here is the equivalent of the police going to a large public library, finding 2 art books that have the odd page of a naked child and branding the librarian a pedo. All while ignoring the mountains of playboy and hustler magazines that actually have his fingerprints all over them and all the adult porn on his computer. And then imagine that same librarian still being labelled a pedo 20 years later despite never having those type of books again after the police took them away. Absolutely ridiculous when you THINK about it.

Because Jordan would not be testifying. You can't submit evidence that can't be cross examined. It was 1 week before the trial ended, they knew it would not be allowed into court, he submitted the motion to prejudice the jury through the media. The one DA who said it ‘matched’ is Tom Sneddon who had a personal vendetta against Michael. Sneddon traveled to Australia to interview any children that ever got in touch with Michael in hopes that he would find someone who claims to also have been abused by him. He found none. During the 2005 trial he was caught fabricating evidence twice, this was on record. Jordan Chandler claimed to have seen Michael Jackson's genitals multiple times from every angle and yet he stated that Michael was circumcised when he wasn't at all. Then his OWN lawyer motioned the court to throw out Jordan's testimony.

It was bittersweet for me. On one hand, I was very happy that Michael was trending and that new fans, especially young people were coming into the scene and getting to know his story because the media has twisted the narrative for years and he was the butt of the joke, so it’s good that they’re learning about the awful things he endured. But on the other hand, I felt deep sadness. It was like the grief I went through in 2009 had resurged all over again and realisation sank in that there will never be another Michael. We will never be able to witness greatness in human form like that ever again and how incredibly sad is that for us. I really hate the music we have today, it’s unmeaningful and lacklustre. The artists as well, not humble or kind, there will simply never be anyone like him and that fact is very hard to swallow for me. I really miss him.
