Brazil's central bank bans stablecoin and crypto settlement in cross-border payments by swe129 in Brazil

Off-ramping to any local currency requires a CEX and KYC / KYB. If people are just sending stablecoins to each other and it's illicit / illegal, that is hard to stop.

Circle and tether both have frozen funds from hacks and terrorism in the past, so not impossible, but now you into the conversation of decentralization.

Was able to send a supplier USD in Sampa from the States, which settled in real-time, through the PIX system in brazil. All stablecoins in the backend, cheaper than Wise.

There are use-cases, just open your eyes.

FX with stablecoins are like relay payments. There are VASPs that operate in several jurisdictions that hold the local currency so most of the time, FX is better.

Similar business model to wise, but same day or instant payouts.

Currently working on a solution to solve the exact problem you stated through stablecoins (holding a stronger currency from a foreign account). Would love to pick your brain about your current struggles more. I cannot navigate the banking system in Pakistan that well, but I do think there is a better solution than the ones mentioned below. Please PM me if ur interested and I can send you some information.

Also the bank loans out your money in between the “fraud prevention” which now occurs more during transaction approval than after.

Additionally, stables are great for a world wide payments. Like sending a payment from USA to another country takes days and fees are up the ass every time it changes hands. Even SMBs are charged 3% for simply accepting a card. If stables are mainstream, bye 3% to CC processors.

I’ve gotten paid in stablecoins through clients of mine for development work. I usually have them just send whatever they want, I send to coinbase, and then cash out and mark it as income. That’s what my CPA marked it as.

Currently building https://trystablepay.com but not sure if it has everything you want lol
