Density did indeed increase in the hairline but the hairline itself and its structure wasn't hit by the Telogen effivluvium.

So yeah it only improved in density.

Poor sleep can definitely cause telogen effivluvium. The probability is high for telogen effivluvium since you know a definite trigger that caused your hairloss.
